How do I switch an LG CU500 from 3G to GSM?

My roommate is having problems placing phone calls. Apparently nothing happens when he presses the send button. (Call don't connect) I was thinking that maybe there was a UMTS outage or something. I'm thinking that switching the phone to GSM will fix the problem.

P.S. I heard someone having similar problems in Orlando a few weeks ago.

I was wondering the same thing. I havent put that code on the phone cuz it looks kinda weird. It looks more like an unlock code...

not a joke, it puts you into the engineering mode on the phone. it works on the cu500 and the cu320. try it and see. i wouldn't steer ya wrong. 🙂

lol! you should know what you're doing before you change something. it won't break it, but you will have to take it in and get it back to the correct settings.

there's always the factory reset option, but if it ain't broke I'm not gonna mess with it. I'm a sales rep, not part of our tech department.

ah. well i will tell you, i hated the phone until i forced the phone into enhanced full rate and stopped dropping calls! i love it now, i also have it forced it to UMTS only. I love it.

hmm, I haven't had any problems with mine. I just got a friend into a Sync and they're dropping calls. Think I could force that one to stay on UMTS?

Does enhanced full rate drain the battery faster or any cons to it?

nope, doesn't drain the battery more. the battery drains because of the CDMA usage of the phone. if you're in GSM mode you should get standard GSM battery life. Don't know about the code on the a707. i'm sure there is one out there, because i've seen the one for the i607. i've never used the a707 or know anyone that tested it.

I pressed a button while looked at the port options. The phone rebooted, and no SD card memory. Oh well, that was all just cheesy photos or videos.

nah, i don't think to can change that there. i think it only for how you want your phone to react to the usb cable when plugged in to a pc.

doesn't really make sense because the phone is backwards compatable, you can still use the old sim cards on it.

the old sim will still pick up UMTS/HSDPA.
