Just signed with Cingular

I bought my GF a Moto V600 from Cingular with a CingularNation 450 contract.

She doesn't get service at her house. The Network is set to "automatic" on the phone. Is it possible that there is an ATT GSM tower she could gain access to if the network settings were altered? Or would "Automatic" already be taking care of it?

I'm surprised they sold you a V600. It has known issues with 850 MHz band.

Automatic switches the phone between 850/1900 US and 900/1800 international bands, so it won't make any difference if you switch it to 850/1900.

If you are still within the 15 day return policy, I wouls swap out the phone though.

If its been more than that, let me know and I'll get you the number for replacement.

Thanks for the info...

Replacement with what? A fixed V600 or another phone?

I'll take the #.

Thanks...

800-201-6235 is the number. They will send you a V400 to use until the V600 is repaired, along with a free headset for the trouble. They will notify you by text message when the new phone is on the way.

I have heard that they may be sending out V620s, since that is the phone that will replace the V600, but am unable to confirm it. Most likely it will be the V600 with the 850 MHz reception issue fixed.

Good luck and let me know how it works out for you!

Thanks...I appreciate the help...

Where can I find info on the 850 problem?

She gets great reception everyplace but her own house (100 ft up the street it gets 5 bars)...I'd be interested to know if that's due to the 850 issue...

thanks again

Your local Cingular rep should be able to tell you if the area is 850 or 1900... I could check coverage in that area, but have no access to which GSM band is local for you.

All Cingular reps have access to a map tool which will allow them to check coverage based on zip code, or even street address.
