The free one isn't a pop3 nor imap4 account so you couldn't program in your settings onto the 8525. I believe yahoo gives you an option to "upgrade" your account for a monthly fee, which you can then set up on your 8525.

If you really don't want to pay anything, you could open a hotmail account and have your yahoo email forwarded to your hotmail account. Since your 8525 is a windows based device, if you're signed in on it, you'll get your IM's as well as hotmail emails.

Blackberry service is different than pop email. It's basically yahoo saying they're not going to give you the server information to set that up unless you pay for it. The free webmail based servers are that way, but we've got a loophole on that phone since it's windows based.

You might also want to check and see if there's an application you can load onto the PDA that will let you "sign-in" to Yahoo in a similar way that MSN does.

yes, but then you have to check your email as opposed to being notified when new emails are sent to you. The web browser is always an option though.

Yahoo's "yahooGo" client doesn't look like it supports the 8525.. they have a service that will text you when you get new emails thats free but to get Pop mail (your mail client) you need to pay for it. I agree with Switchy.. Gmail is a good option or if you have an ISP they usually allow pop mail access.
