More Cingular system ?'s
Sorry for all the ?'s but does Cingular really use SIEBEL for activating phones at their corporate retail locations? What billing system are their existing TDMA customers on? What type of program is utilized for POS transactions?
AWS uses a very poor version of Siebel and it crashes on a bi-weekly basis unfortunately.

yes, tell me about it. im with an ATTWS call center for processing orders, and siebel crashes twice per order for me. it also requires a new update every six seconds to accomdate the big changes happening. First upgrade pricing, then UMTS, then automatic feature provisioning...the list goes on and on.

Hi I work in cingular customer service we use two biling systems either care or telegance. Corporate stores use telegance or care tdma customers are in both billing systems. We are not activating any tdma phones. Non corporate stores use either a system called POS or they just call actvations.

At least siebel is better than it was. It used to go down every day durring peak hours because it couldn't handle the load. I've heard of other companys that use Siebel and don't have near the problems that AWS has. It's very strange. I wouldn't be supprised if Cingular uses's Convergys new 3g care system (i think it's called Infinity) as Convergys owns part of Cingular. AWS should have purchased it. I'm told it's really good system and very customisable.

Cingular is owned jointly by SBC and BellSouth, where do you get this Convergys stuff? I have explored the Annual Reports for all 4 companies, and see no reference to Convergys in any of them.
...
Congergys owns part of SBC. Not sure how much but it's a chunk.
...
incorrect. convergys owns nothing of sbc. have a nice day. convergys takes calls for att and direct tv among others. they are an out sourced call center.
...
Convergys does a lot more than that. Convergys has a huge IT department that designs customer managment systems that they have licensed to a variaty of clients and use themselfs in their own call centers for clients. Convergys also does the bills for a number of companys including sprint, AWS and a lot more. I admit I'm not 100% about the SBC but i was told Convergys owns 35% of it but i don't know how reliable that is but convergys is more than call centers?
