I'm getting a new phone either today or next Friday. I'm looking for mp3, camera/video & blurtooth. I'm stuck between the Sony Ericsson w300i, Samsung A707 (Cingular Sync), LG CU500 and the SLVR. Which do you think is best?
...
I've been looking at all of those same phones (I make the switch in 2 weeks). Based on the dozens of reviews I've read, the input I've gotten form people who own them, Cingular store employees, and my own impressions from seeing them in person, of the ones you've listed I would get the W300i. It is supposed to have great reception and call quality, solid Bluetooth performance, and a great music player. It's only weakness is a so-so camera. That wouldn't matter to me, but it might to you.
...
So-so camera is one thing, crappy is another thing. I hope it's better than the Treo 700w that I have is. For $700, you'd think that a 1.3 megapixel camera/video should be better than what it is.
...
LOL...I don't know. The phone I've had for the past 2 years doesn't have a camera. Here's the way I look at it: I have a really nice DSLR camera for photography. My cell phone camera will only be for a rare spur-of-the-moment shot. I doubt I'll use it much so I'm not real worried about the quality. But that's me. You might rate the camera performance as much higher on your priority list. If that's the case, you should look at the W810i.
...
I just might. If not that one, then the Sync for sure.
...
get a phone that's insurable. CU500 is my recommendation.
...
If I have a GoPhone, there's no insurance, right?
...
That's what I thought (and as a WSC rep, I should know that). Thanks for the input, thought 🙂
...
Get the w810. Insurance is way way a waste of money, IMO. And the phone is superb.
...
I may do the w810, if not the w300 since they both have unrestricted Bluettoth and Infrared; because I have A Verizon 700w which is only good for beaming since Verizon neuters the bluetooth functionality on the phones.
...
I think you can get the w810 for less than $100. For that price you are getting quite a phone.
...
I have to pay the out of pocket price. Is th w810i worth it?
...
Whats the out of pocket price? You may can buy it unlocked cheaper than what Cingular sells it for. Try plemix.com or myworldphone.com (thats where I got mine) and then you can buy you a white one if you like it better than the black. I thought you were a VZW customer, and therefore would be signing a new contract. Either way, the phone is worth it, but if buying unlocked is cheaper then do it. Its better than a branded one.
...
I do have Verizon & I have a GoPhone.
...
Then you are eligible to sign a contract and get it at the contract price.
...
My deposit is too high. I'll stick w/ the Gophone for now.
...
Go with T-mobile, they'll approve you no deposit...... 😳
But really, they will.
...
I tried. They want $$$$$! Ima just have to do as I;ve been doin.
...
I am starting to really like the sync. The sony will have a better music player but the camera, screen, and call clarity is a little better on the sync.
...
I disagree with the camera and call clarity being better but will agree with the screen. I had the sync and it dropped calls where my w810 doesnt. The camera is nice but it lacks AF and therein lies the difference.
...
The Sony's fall back would be its M2 data card which is a little harder to find. I don't sell the product but i would assume its pricier as well.
...
I got the w300i. Those M2 cards are expensive as ----; but i found a 1gig card that works great in it (Cingular needs to fix that on their website; the max is 1gig, NOT 512mb!). I'll be posting a review shortly.
...
I stuck a 2gig MicroSD in the SYNC even though I wasn't supposed to according to specs. Works perfectly. 🙂
...
i like my Slvr despite poor camera quality, but it includes the memory card and data cable that you have to purchase seperate with the other phones on the list.
Other than that the Sync and CU500 would be an excellent choice for music & tv
