yet another sim card?
So this only highlights the shortcomings of Customer Care.. The lady told me I would have to spend another 25 dollars on a blue UMTS sim that would only work with Cingular branded phones (even though I told her mine said 3G on the back)...and I would have to give them the imei number so they could make change on thier end for me to access the 3G network... Once again, I am in awe of the disgrace that is Cingular cus...

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that phone, don't be ashamed! The V3xx is an awesome phone, it's quick has lots of features. It rivals my CU500, but I'm not sure that one or the other is better yet.
Some reps just get tired of hearing the same constant stuff all day (being a rep for cingular customer care must not be a very fun job) so don't be too harsh on them. Seems like the rep you got just gave the standard "25 bucks for a new sim" answer, which is correct, it just wasn't the best choice in your case.
