Hello all! I've been reading this forum for awhile but just registered. I first was an At&t subscriber and stayed with the plan I had with them until just recently-my phone was about 2 years old and wouldn't hold a charge longer than 15 minutes. So, on my plan with at&t I had a family plan with just one other line and I had nights starting at 7PM. Now of course since getting a new phone we had to change our pricing plan and go with Cingular-which is fine but I was just wondering, when they went from at&t to cingular I was still under contract but was told that I could go to a cingular plan and it wouldn't be looked at like I was breaking the contract-so I was told I could get a new phone, sign a new 2 yr and also get 2 yr pricing. So my...

The only thing they are offering is Mobile to Landline for at&t landline subscribers if you change your plan.

right now unfortanutly we dont plan on offering early nights and weekends with no additional fees. but maybe at a later date. another thing is you will be able to sign a new two year and get a new phone every so often while your in contract. its called an upgrade. depending on how profitable you are to the company its anywhere between 12 to 21 months into your contract.

Bigmike how is that any different than an Exception Upgrade.... or now even you can do an standard upgrade after 1 year if your line is somewhere between 59.99 to 79.99 a month.

i dont see anything changing

they wont let you all the time. i have a customer whos bill is 200 a month and 1 year into his contract and we cant upgrade him. i know as indirects we have a vip upgrade tool that allows us to do exception upgrade. but its wierd on who they let upgrade sometimes. you cant have any suspensions or late payments also features really help you out as well.

What IS an exception upgrade?

I've had Cingular for 2 years now and looking for a new phone. I was a bit surprised to learn that they do not offer any incentive to STAY vs going back to Verizon (where I had $100 off with the 'new every two' plan).

Does Cingular offer any incentive for existing customers not to move to another network? Might they offer a 'new every two' type deal in the future?

An exception upgrade is this

Let's say you are on a 2 year contract from Dec. 2006 to Dec. 2008 and let's say you smashed your phone into itty pieces with the car by accident.

Well it goes like this 0-5 months into it, there is no upgrade exception, you want a phone you pay Retail price only. 6-11 months into the contract, you would be available for a excpetion upgrade, you get the 1 year discount pricing on the phone but you MUST SIGN a new 2 year contract to get the price, or pay full retail.

Thats is the exeption upgrade.Either 6-11 months or if you are 12-20 months into the contract and you spend less then $75 ARPU, then you can also get the 1 year price with a new 2year commitment, these are the only 2 exceptions.

Cingular's offer is better in many respects than "new every 2"

First off, not every Verizon customer gets new every 2, just the higher revenue/value customers. Cingular offers their 2 year price every year to their high revenue/value customers. No need to wait 2 years.

With Verizon you have to wait 2 years but get a better deal than their regular tier customer. Considering your phone is out of warranty every year most customers appreciate the immediate big discount. My experience has been heavier users like new phones more often.

Well, I consider the $100 off with Verizon's NE2 plan a much better deal for me than getting Cingular's same 2-year pricing as they give to new customers. My monthly plan is in the $60 range.
