Digital/TDMA Phones

Can anyone tell me whether or not Cingular offers any phones for TDMA?

If so, is it possible to migrate an ATTWS TDMA customer over to a Cingular TDMA phone/ Rate plan?

Also, if true, what models of phones are available?

New string of new phones in mid-November?

There has been talk of a lot of new phones coming out around mid-November, right around when Cingular will offer plans and products to former AT&T customers. Does anyone have more information as to what models might be released first?

Cingular first on Carrier Page now...

It appears that Cingular has replaced Verizon on the Carrier Page of this forum now, with the first slot.

Does this mean they are #1 now? 😁

Cingular divesting itself of certain markets...

The following quote came from the Washington Post story about the merger with ATTWS:

"To satisfy the antitrust concerns of regulators, Cingular will have to sell AT&T Wireless's business, including stores and customers, in 16 mostly rural and suburban markets, according to the sources."

Different stories have mentioned Kentucky and Missouri among the areas that will be affected. Does anyone have precise information on what areas of those two states will be affected?

I live in SE Missouri and work in both W Kentucky and SE Missouri and just wonder if my roaming ability might be severely downgraded once this takes effect in the next few months. If anyone knows more than I do, please feel free to educate me on the subject 🙂

What kind of discounts?

What kind of discounts do employees get with Cingular. I work for Convergys and I already have Cingular so hopefully I can get a nice little discount on my bill 😉

Post Merge Divest Question

Does the new company have to divest ALL business in certain markets as required by the FCC/DOJ? Or, as I thought II understood before I read something that confused me, just divest of the ATTWS assets in certain markets.

The combined company isn't pulling out of markets, just paring back it's combined assets, right?

Sell Me To Cingular...

Ok so with this whole merger Im thinking about signing up with Cingular and bring my Verizon number with me...I want someone to tell me why I should be with Cingular. I would prefer people who have come from Verizon and some advantages and disadvantages. This doesnt need to start any arguments but I just want some unbias opinions so it will help me whether I should stay with them or jump ship to Cingular... 😳

sim card compatibility

I am looking to purchase a new phone and sim card to replace a phone that I lost. From what I understand, Cingular uses different types of sim cards for different areas of the US (I'm in the NY area). Does anyone know how I can find out what series/type of sim card would be compatible in my area?

thanks for your help

New phones coming with the announcement?

We had all just heard the news this morning and now we wait and see on the implementation of the two companies to see what new services and what will become available.

Does anyone know what kind of new phones we might see in the very near future from Cingular?

Some changes might be needed in the Phone Finder section here at phonescoop as well to reflect what models might be coming.

ATT Infrastructure

MY wife's phone picks up an ATT tower at home... Still says "Cingular Extend" ...

How long before this changes?

"Roaming" on ATT towers no longer counts as "off network", right?

Service in Montana...

Do you think Cingular will ever have coverage in Montana with the merger? I would not hesitate at all to switch to Cingular if they will get coverage here.
