for our friend the phonepimp

.D. Power and Associates’ 2004 Wireless Call Quality Performance Study provided most carriers with something to brag about, as four of the six nationwide operators posted high scores for at least one of the six regions the marketing firm included in the study.
J.D. Power and Associates noted the study employs a call-quality index based on experiences reported by 21,700 wireless users across seven customer-reported problem areas impacting overall carrier performance, including static/interference, connection on first try, voice distortion, no echoes, dropped/disconnected calls, no immediate voice mail notification and no immediate text message notification.

The survey shined brightest on Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS and T-Mobile USA Inc.,...

Coverage question

Hi guys!

I'm interviewing for a job tommorrow in which I understand that a lot of my business will be in southern VA. That's fine for me since I grew up in So. VA and already know where everything is, but I was planning on switching to Cingular since thier coverage is better here at home. I also understand that I may have to travel a lot over the state line and I don't really wanna keep my ALLTEL phone just so I can still be reached when I have to go to VA.

My question is this: I know that there is AT&T coverage in the parts of VA that I'll probably be in, should this be sufficient to keep my Cingular phone useable when I go there, or should I keep my ALLTEL phone (which works great in VA) until the merger goes thru?

You know you are right. Perhaps I should change my name. Of the hundreads or thousands of people who patronoze this site, you are the only one who has a problem with my user name. I have a couple of suggestions and maybe you can help be out....

It must be nice to sit at work and give out vauge, useless information on this website. You might find if you work, you might make more than the $5 an hour at your store or kiosk.

I think everyone else might agree that I give useful and insightful information, when I post a thread. You don't like my name....piss off. Go back to your AT&T forum and bother someone else. Some of us are ...

Besr Cingular Camera Phone,

I have been with verizon wireless for about 8 years now, mainly due to verizon having the best reception at the time I signed up with them (GTE). I am now considering switching over to cingular due to some issues I have with verizon that I wont mention here to save the flames. 😉 I am wondering what the best camera phone Cingular currently has on the market and if there are any stellar phones coming out in the near future. I love the convenience of the camera phone so this is of great consideration to me.
Thanks in advance!!

Sim card problem??

My friend is right now in Chicago, (he lives in NY) he has a cingular phone that just stopped working, its the Motorola v400, and the phone says; "unregistered Sim card" (or something of that sort)

so he called CS, and was told that its his fault, although he did nothing, they said they can not help him, and as a courtesy they waive the shipping on a new Sim card, which would not arrive until SAT (this happened on WED)

the local stores there cant help him, b/c "NY uses different Sim cards.."

my question is;
1) is that protocol? (does this make any sense?)
2) is there anything he could do to help it? should he maybe restore the factory settings?
(they told him, he must have changed the settings.. which he did not)

yesterday f...

Long Time Lurker, First Time Poster

Hey there. I've been lurking for a while, and finally decided to take the plunge and start posting.

I work for Cingular in a company owned kiosk inside a national retailer in the Boston market. I can neither confirm nor deny ever meeting phonepimp, although I could well have bumped into him at some training session or event without knowing his secret identity.

Next month I'm moving out of this location into a mall kiosk.

As for the name, my kiosk is plagued with gawkers. They don't want to talk, even to just say hi. They just lean as close as they can to the glass, almost to the point of leaving noseprints and gawk at the phones.

I talk to them anyway, and that usually makes them go away.

Anyway, here's the short version f...

$9.99 FT extended....again

Just got word Tuesday that the North Texas market is extending the $9.99 FT until Septemeber 30th. Not too much of a surprise there.

All stores in the state of Texas will not carry the T237. Not too sure why on this one, but more information will follow shortly.

Which one, Samsung p107 or e317?

I'm ready to sign up for new service at Cingular, but there phone choices are limited in Wisconsin. Should I go with the Samsung P107 on sale for $79.00 or wait for the new e317 or other Motorola's coming out in August and September?

one thing i just realized

DUH! i dont know why i didnt think of this before, but with the past conversations about what will happen to ATTW sales people after the buyout, they will still work for ATTW!. ATTW (the name) will be selling Sprint service under the same ATTW name, so the only difference for ATTW sales people is that they will be selling different phones using a different technology. Their stores will not go away or be converted to Cingular stores.

MP3's

This has probably been asked before... but I'll do it again anyway...

If I want to use an mp3 from my computer as a ringtone on my v400, can i send to my phone via MMS... or is the only way via the data cable. I've sent midi files and they work, however, i modified an mp3 to 64kps (the same as the ones i pay for) and sent them... my phone recognizes it's a music file but when I press Play, it says "System Error"
