Going to Montreal

I will be travelling to Montreal this week for business. I have a Motorola V400 phone. Will I be able to get service there? If so, what kind of charges might I incur?

Thanks. Any info is appreciated.

Virgin Mobile commercials

Have any of you heard the commericals where the people talking are singing their conversation? Very funny stuff, their marketing people are brilliant.

New Activation away from home

OK all you Cingular/Best Buy gurus....I have a question. I am being transferred to another state. My current state doesn't have Cingular, but my new home will. I have decided to get three Cingular lines of service and Best Buy has a special running right now: 2 LG1200 phones for $49.95 after rebates and a 2 year contract. I have contacted the Best Buy at my current location and they are unable to help since they don't offer Cingular. I have contacted the Best Buy at my new location and they say I need to register in person to qualify.

Is there any way I can register for service at my new location without being there in person? The ad expires tomorrow (8/7)...any ideas would be appreciated!

Verizon to cingular

😕

I am currently with Verizon and the call quality and reliability is second to none. My question is that with the accusition of AT&T and the unveiling of WCDMA Cingular is getting more attractive, especially with the phone selection. I am wondering if and when there will be coverage in upstate New Yorks Binghamton area??? The website says we are not in their coverage area. Thanks all

POS.com

My Cingular Rep told me the other day that they are going to completely re-program POS.com and start from scratch. Does anyone know more about this, and if so, do you know when this will go into effect.

Motorola mpx-220

our local engineer was in the store yesterday, and he is testing one of these bad boys out right now. Talk about a sweet phone! the screen looks great, the pics it takes are great. only thing is that it is an early version of the software, so it has 1 bug that he has found so far (where the mic will mute and the only way to unmute is to pull the battery). i'm sure that will be fixed. otherwise, it has a TON of options, including MSN messenger (since it IS a microsoft OS).

EDGE and UMTS

Is it possible to implement UMTS without having EDGE first. What I am asking is if WCDMA can be put in place over GPRS. Or would NC have to have EDGE first? i doubt this is possible. But that would be great if it were possible. Pimp, I know you got an answer for me.

Tri-band & Quad-band Phones-Unlocked?

Everything I have seen on this forum seems to state that the Quad-band phones (Moto V400 & 600 - now I guess it's just V400) are unlocked when purchased from a Cingular store. I thought I read here that the tri-band phones like the SE T616 & 637 and LG L1200 were provided unlocked as well.

My fiancee and I were about to sign up for a family plan through her work and we both go to Germany several times a year. We both have local pre-paid SIMs with local numbers there. We must have unlocked phones. The Cingular guy in the retail store says that they are not SIM locked but the woman who works in corporate sales says they are all locked. We're buying two phones, probably a V400 and a SE.

What's the scoop? Are they for sure unlocked as pur...

Cingular service coming to Pittsburgh, PA

It's frustrating to see these Cingular commercials on TV here in Pittsburgh and know that we cannot purchase the service, since Cingular is not allowed to sell here in Western Pennsylvania. Now, if and when this merger with ATT Wireless goes through, will that allow Cingular to finally be able to open up some stores around here? I need to get away from Verizon Wireless. Anybody have info on this? Thanks!

Would appreciate info on rate plan

I'm thinking of purchasing a Sony Ericsson T637 on Cingular through Amazon. Apparently I'll net $50 after rebates, etc.

Need some advice on choosing a plan - I will be adding a second line in about a month but I noticed on the Cingular site some plans charge $9.99 for a second line while others $19.99. There is no info on this on the Amazon site. Right now, considering Nation 600 Rollover Min, with unlimited n&w and mobile to mobile calling. Is it a wise move to purchase phone and plan through Amazon - what complications may I run into later on regarding customer service, etc. Secondly, if I am unhappy with the service and want to return it within 14 days, will I deal with Amazon or can I take it to a Cingular store?
Any advice and addi...

Talked to my Market Manager

I just tried to ask my Cingular market manager about the Merger. She said she wasnt at liberty to say anything about it because she can get fired. I am not sure if that kinda thing is typical, but i would really like to know the ends and outs of the merger in further detail. i know a good bit about it. But it seems weird that they wouldnt be able to talk about stuff that you can easily find on the internet. unless there is something that we dont know. Any ideas guys, Cain i know you got me on this one.

Attn: taurus

I was kidding when I was speaking of satelites phones.
We all know cell signal will never be in all places.
But if I were stuck in the middle of nowhere, I would rather have on hand a satelite phone (expensive to use per minute, and have a signal, than a dead cell phone).
I was on c/net,and this website showed the replies of people who had different carriers in several cities.
I wanted to thank the person who suggested to me.
Thank you for your time taurus.

Some Help, Please.......

I wasn't sure what forum to use, but I know a lot of people switch forums several times day/night.
I need some help and advice.
I live in Gainesville, fl.,area code 352 and zipcode 32614.
If the University of Florida were ground zero(center point)who is the best carrier, coverage wise for a 20 mile radius? Though we have all six or seven carriers, some have "giant holes".
I know I'm asking a lot, but most of the people on here are also cell reps. who have certain maps which the general public is not allowed to see. Verizon dies east of Waldo rd. and heading towards Williston.
I'm not interested in either Nextel or Alltel.
Thank you in advance.
While I'm here, has Moto V600 gotten any better?

Any Cingular Reps Out There ?

I work in Customer Service for ATT Wireless and the future merger is looming. Rumor's are flying around at our center and we really don't know what to expect. One Question that keeps coming up, is what system's or billing platform does Cingular use ? Currently at ATT Wireless our accounts are accessed using a program we call Siebel.
Are there any Cingular reps out there that would be willing to tell me what platform/system's are used to access your accounts. We are wondering which systems will be used post-merger.

Advice on Rollover Minutes

I am in the process of looking for a new provider and am curious about rollover minutes. Can anyone out there who has this give me any feedback as to whether or not it is worth it? Some of my friends have them and say that they never use them. Any help is appreciated.
