Pearl without blackberry plan

carlsberg

Is it possible to run the Pearl without the blackberry plan?

I don't have the need to surf the internet or check my emails while driving. I just want to replace my pda.

Any input? Thank you!

By the way, I just came back to T-mobile. I am happy again.

yea you can get the pearl without the data plan I dont have the plan and have the pearl. The only draw back is you wont be able to get picture text messages.

Thank you! This is great news. I don't use picture text message much.

How did you convince the person at the store? You mean they don't force you to get a data plan like Cingular would do?

when I upgraded to get the pearl I wasn't even asked to get it. Im close to calling them to get it though since I would love the feature though. Hell you can always cancel your data plan they can't make you use it. My home screen says Data connection Refused so I know it wont use anything and get the charges or whatever.

I would suggest a hard case for it. I bought one off ebay a clear one that came with a screen protector for $10 so I wont ding up my pearl. 🙂 just a suggestion though I love the case cause you still see the nice pearl and the screen protector is a must

Also note that without the data plan you cannot download ringtones/wallpapers/etc from T-Zones.

If a rep does force you to get the data plan, you can alway just go home and log onto my.t-mobile.com and take it off LOL

I understand why many people wont sell them without the data plan... less than 1% of blackberry customers with a data plan do a return, but about 50% without one do a return and returns are very very expensive for T-Mobile.
