Maybe this has been covered before, if so I apologize.
Today I dropped by a brand new Walmart here in Massachusetts looking to pick up the el-cheapo Nokia 6030 pre pay T-Mobile phone. The Walmart had no T-Mobile product at all. I asked the department manager, and he told me Walmart is discontinuing all T-Mobile product in their stores.

You guys are lucky. I wish they'd stop selling Cingular.

I think it is because the other T-Mobile stores in your area probaly have a contract with T-Mobile that they can be the only ones to carry T-Mobile products. Thats the way it is where I live. And plus T-Mobile wouldn't discontinue with Wal-Mart, they were just Vendor of the Year.

that may be a blessing in disguise

Seriously, I wish national retailers would go die. The prices don't bother me, we are an agent store so we match whatever it is and then do a half price accessory. But when Wal-Mart activates a phone we get the phone job of fixing whatever they did wrong, and it seems that 50% of their activations have something wrong. Radioshack is just as bad, except every time we offer someone a V3 free after mail in they come back in to the store and says they are getting a Motorola free without the mail in. And then they won't listen to us when we say it's a free V557. There is a reason we don't have it, it's old and discontinued.
