Does anyone out there really expect 100% perfect coverage on a cell phone? I don't. It seems like there are a lot of customers who do though.
To my beloved little customers...
If you think that you should have perfect service everywhere you go I got some news for you...unless you carry a really long frickin cord attached to your phone everywhere you go...you will encounter service problems.
Quick complainin and use the service in the first 14 days.
If you don't like it after 2 WHOLE WKS (which is our buyers remorse)...Cancel then!
I understand our service isn't perfect (NEWS FLASH NO ONE'S IS) but even Verizon has areas where their service sucks.

theres no use complaining man, its the american way....sad really that people cant just UNDERSTAND that wireless technology does not cover every inch of ground in the united states

Verizon may have areas where it sux.. but.. Isn't it true that T-Mobiles coverage area is the worst of the worst? (with the exception of Nextel of'coarse)

Actually Nextel's coverage is greater than Tmo's.

TMo has the largest pure GSM network in the country, largest and most flexible mobile to mobile and in some markets (Chicago) just flat out has the best coverage (area and signal). So eat it Verizon. Plus, TMo is ranked number 1 by JD Power associated in about 10 categories including customer satisfaction.
...
The largest GSM network is easly Cingular's with a close second with AWS. Largets MTM is is far and away Verizon's. And Verizon's CDMA network is by far larger than TMo's GSM network. CDMA is equivalent to GSM (not saying one is better than the other because that is a debate for another thread, just that they are comparible)
...
All those other carriers have stipulations on MTM that range from deceptive to down right stupid (AWS for example). And don't even compare CDMA to GSM. That is like comparing a horse and buggy to a Ferrari. Oh, and check the maps again. TMo has the largest GSM network and it is only getting bigger (look at the CA buyout of Cingular's spectrum)
...
I'm not sure what maps you are looking at but i am looking at Tmo, Cingular and AWS maps and Tmo is the smallest by a long way. When you add in AWS and Cingulars off network coverage too then Tmo doesn't even come close. even Compareing Tmo's off and on network map to AWS or Cingular's On network it looks like Tmo is still smaller (but very close). I'm getting these maps off each company's website.
by the way. I know this is a debate for another thread but which are you saying is the Ferrari and which the horse and buggy?

Vox,
Lets schedule TMobilefreak an appointment to the Lenscrafters next to his store. Coverage on and off network is comparing apples and oranges. And you wonder why T-Mobiles website gives you a magnifying glass to look at their coverage......to be fair, so does ATT.

Admitedly, TMo's rural coverage is not quite there yet. But, when you look at the places that 90% of Americans actually use their phones, you can't beat it. What do you need to make a call in the middle of a corn field in Nebraska for any way?

Go ask that farmer that just spent a million on his new tractor that breaks down 😛 Of course if you are going to debate who offers better service (less dropped calls and best reception) Then that is a completely different debate that largest network. We could debate best service untill the cows come home and unless you go to every area in every city with one of everyones phone and start imitating that stuppid verizon spokeperson (I don't care if verizon does have a legit claim to best coverage that guy is just freaking annoying 😛)
...
The farmer should have looked at a coverage map before he signed up for service. All I am saying is that for the vast majority of the people in this country, TMo is the best option.

The vast majority of people in this country is what, 250 million strong? If you're going to tell us that people only stay in metro areas in this country, you've got another thing coming. Tmobile is the best option for folks that live in cities and travel main thoroughfares.

Right on, brother. Interestingly, the past couple of months we are selling more T-Mobile than Verizon, which is surprising because Verizon is king here. However, I do think that perhaps Verizon has saturated the customer base around here to the point where they don't have anywhere to go but down. I have a new campus store, and the college kids are all buying T-Mobile for several reasons. One, all their friends have it. Two, they like the cool phones. Three, they talk more than you would think humanly possible, and they want more minutes for their money. Four, many of them are in transition, and they like only having to sign a one-year contract to get the best deal. By the way, why is the T-Mobile forum so boring lately? We don't hea...

I should get one of you two to hire me so I can move. Where are you at Starr?
...
Hmmm... my brother and his wife live there right now. However, they are moving back to Oregon probably next summer. I like Houston, but I don't know if I could get used to living there. An hour on the freeway to get across town just doesn't sound good to me. Maybe one of the nice new suburbs, like Katy. Now if it were San Antonio or Austin I'd be all over it. I'm kind of thinking about Colorado, Arizona, or California right now. I'm not thrilled about California, but I have a lot of friends in Orange County so I would be nice.

Sure! Pick the attractive wireless hottie! I'll find someone else to play Texas Holdem with...

Shut up! You play poker? I asked her specifically because I already know where you are. It's tempting, but Florida couldn't be any farther away from the rest of my family here in Oregon. And by the way, how do you know that Starr is "an attractive wireless hottie"? I mean, she is very pleasant, but you might want to watch your mouth before you get hit with a sexual e-harrassment lawsuit. 😉

Aw, I just think she's cool. As for poker...c'mon down next Sunday for "PokerFest" at my place. Egos squashed, insults exchanged...bring your money!

I believe what was stated is that MOST people live in metro areas. They travel in metro areas and along interstates and work in metro areas. So, it seems to follow that TMo would be a great op...

TMo,
As being a Cingular employee, I must admit that when you are on T-Mobile network, coverage is great! I think the biggest drawback to your carrier is middle America. Sure having coverage where "most" American's use phones is great, but you can not isolate rural America. Their dollar spends the same and the deserve coverage where they work.....even if it is in the middle of a corn field.
I had one of your customers in my store yesterday who ported out, tell me that she recieved a letter form TMo stating that htey are expanding their coverage and building more towers. However, she didn't want to wait and was tired having to go out on the porch to make a call. Lots a love to you guys but coverage is still comparing apples and oranges...

I am very honest with ALL of my customers and it does pay off. Our coverage is strictly digital but it is growing in leaps and bounds. I can even notice the difference in my area, normal dead spots are no longer dead. At my store, we do a coverage check with every customer, new and current. We check every place they frequent to make sure they are getting adequate coverage. And if they are going to a rural area with limited or no coverage, I don't further encourage them to sign up with us. Trust me the honesty goes a long way, even though you will miss out on a sale. There isn't a wireless company who has flawless coverage, if that was the case, there wouldn't be any competition. No one is perfect so its in your best interest to direct the cu...

And THAT, ladies and gentlemen, is the ESSENCE of the T-Mobile "Get More" promise. In this case, you Get More Service. 😉

How long does it take to build up your credit in order to get a contract plan? T-mobile is asking for $500 which I'm not willing to pay.

I'd try back in 6 months.

I appreciate the rational post. My point all along is that "most" Americans live and do most of their "living" within our coverage area. Certainly there are people that live out of that area, and for them we are not an option.

If you want to start crying compare the coverage in ohio nextel kills Tmobile. I sell both but nextel has superior coverage to tmobile in ohio. National coverage doesn't mean a hill of beans if you can't use your phone east or west of I-75.

you're right gemini, T-MO's coverage in Ohio is horrible... you can forget about it if you're not a major higheway or city

WOW coowguy!!! Your a really nice T-Mobile rep!! You have a nasty attuide. Thats why you people lose costumers!! If I worked for T-Mobile I wouldn't hire you if my life depended on it! All you do is drive your costumers away!! You need to get a better attuide or drop the job. Cuz you knew when you wanted to work for T-Mobile you knew you were gonna get complains!! So STOP bitchin & do YOUR job!!! 😈
...
T-Mobile employees get to wear costumes? I WANT A COSTUMER!!!
...
LoL!! 🤣 I ment costumer!! Not costumes! 🙄
...
Actually, JD Power would disagree. They seem to think that TMo does the best job in customer satisfaction. I would say they are a pretty reliable source.
...
I know T-Mobile got an award for "Best Customer Service". But I am saying with "coowguy" as a rep, they would lose business & the award. Because he has a nasty attuide with T-Mobile's "PAYING" customers. 😕
...
That is true. There are a few bad apples. But, they are available 24 hours a day and there is rarely any hold time to talk to a rep. No one else can say that.

ALL i can say is this, all 3 of the major GSM carriers in my AREA get COMPARABLE reception, i have no problems, i guess thats one of the perks of living in california and not some place in the middle of nowhere, anyways, so at that point it boils down to who has the phone that i want.....and to anyone who expects full bars everywhere in the nation (on every INCH of the country)....you go to hell, you go to hell and you die
