I've been patiently waiting since like September when I first heard of it...

Is t-mobile finally going to release the service in other markets?

For those who don't know about it...

You can get a myFaves 300 plan for 39.99.... and at t-mobile HotSpot @Home for 19.99.

This MEANS that you will get the following:
- unlimited calling to any 5 numbers of your choice
- unlimited nights
- unlimited weekends
- unlimited calling whenever you're in your house
- perfect signal inside your house
- unlimited calling at any HotSpot, which includes thousands of Starbucks, and hotels.

Not bad eh? Plus, you get a router in your home. The router costs $50 but you get a $50 rebate so its basically free.

The router is there because when ...

HotSpot@Home will launch Nationally sometime during Q2. However, it will not be available in all markets at launch. Some markets are still undergoing network upgrades.

HotSpot@Home will work off your existing Cable or DSL connection. (No you don't get free internet, you have to already have it)

Either way, getting rid of your landline will STILL SAVE you at least $30 a month!!

Sounds to me it just is using VOIP in your home kind of like the wifi phone vonage and a few others have. You can make calls from any wireless router you can connect to. Internet goes down then your back to your signal and using your min!

What happens when that subsidized router conks out on you every so often just like the one Comcast leases to me for my Internet?

VOIP is a great idea but until reliability can be improved upon keep your land line if you already have one. If you don't then just stick with a cell phone.

Then you just go to your regular signal, and minutes are then deducted from your minute pool. VOIP does have reliability issues, but with @home you have a backup at all time.

I've talked to people who used this service and they loved it. Said the signal was perfect, the clarity of the calls was crystal clear, and they had no problems with it at all.

I have cable through Insight Communications Cable, and it very reliable. I have had it for three years and it went down three times total, and two of those were during the early morning hours for upgrades. Can't beat that.

They were planning on @home to come out sooner than MyFaves, b/c they expected it to be bigger than MyFaves. It didn't turn out to be the case, though. MyFaves took off the way they expected @home to, so they concentrated on rolling out MyFaves first. It's coming, though, so be patient. 🙂
