T-Mobile Unlock
I was planning on purchasing a Sony Ericsson z500, but I wanted to know if T-Mobile can get unlock codes for phones they don't carry, or if I have to find a different way to unlock it (if, of course, it comes locked to AT&T at all. I'm still not sure if it will or not.)
If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it.

T-Mobile does not supply unlock codes for phones we do not support. You might have to find the code online or pay someone to do it for you.

Another question, which I suppose would be best posed on the Cingular forum, is does Cingular provide unlock codes to non customers, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no.

Right now in my area (Houston), we have some deals on phones when you activate 2 new lines of service. Buy One Get One Free on the Motorola V300 and Samsung E105 (it has to be 2 of the same).

I think the z500 is actually +$175 or something after rebates, but you ahve to get an AT&T service plan and they were unable or unwilling to tell me if it would be unlocked if I purchased it without one....

Be careful w/ ATT. Only ATT can unlock ATT phones. So even if you tried to take it to another company you'd have trouble.

Not quite sure how Cingular does it, but we don't supply codes to non-customers. In addition, you have to be a customer for at least 90 days I believe in order to recieve an unlock code for a T-Mobile phone.
