Test your PDA/Phone speed so far Verizon is the winner.
So far…allegedly a verizon blackberry 7130
had speeds of
Speed: 2 mbps
Communications: 2 mbps
Storage: 245.6 KBps
1MB file download: 4.2 seconds
on the first test
Free test website

Using a Samsung Blackjack tethered to my laptop.
Speed: 575.8
Communications: 575.8 kbps
Storage: 70.3 kbps
1 MB file download: 14.6
Also, those are great numbers for the VZ guy. I will try this out when I get home to test in a better coverage area.

i think the verizon guy was lying becaue this is mid day..high peak hours for conversations..it would be very hard for him to clock speeds up to 2mbps unless he's up on the hill in a village with the only cellphone or something.

Sorry to interrupt, but I'm new to this forum thing and cannot for the life of me figure out how to start a new discussion? I didn't realize how technically crippled I've become since having a Treo 650, which is 10x's easier to use than the Blackjack, and thus my need for some help from this forum. But, for starters, how do I start a new thread? 😕
...
you start it by clicking New thread next to the box next to the search.

That is partly true because verizon has like broadband speeds on their data network and tmobile does not yet. The speeds are supposed to range for verizon are 400 to 600 kbps with bursts up to 2 megabits per second depending on coverage and traffic. I am in tier 3 support for verizon though and almost everyone in this center still prefers tmobile along with myself.

I miss my SDA, but Verizon's internet does move much faster.

Yeah, and Verizon also cripple their phones, which force you to pay Verizon to use services that you can get for free with other carriers. For example, want to move a picture from your phone to your computer? Use a USB cable or bluetooth with Tmobile's phone for free (you may also need software depending on the manufacturer of the phone). Not with Verizon. You must use their picture service at 25 cents per picture (or whatever they are charging now). There are many other ways Verizon nickle and dimes their customers to death. That's why I left them and came to Tmobile, and I haven't looked back since.
