Nextel type phone
It couldn’t be that hard. The Nextel phones are made by Motorola and already use SIM card technology and I’m sure it’s a simple process of substituting a different part in the phone to allow these phones to use the GSM network rather than iDEN.
T-Mobile seems to have one of the, if not the best customer service. Their price plans are very competitive. And I believe they are the only carrier left who doesn’t charge for forwarded calls!
I know, just switch to Sprint/Nextel.

since T-Mobile offers solely GSM/UMTS service, that phones with GSM/UMTS T-Mobile can only offer
This is the reason Push-To-Talk (PTT) works so well on iDEN phones while GSM and CDMA companies struggle to make it viable.
A couple of companies have come up with PTT phones, including Verizon, but doesn't promote them because they don't work that well. So I doubt T-mobile will waste the time to develop the PTT feature, especially while they have so much else to work on with their new bandwidth they just purchased.
