Samsung E715 vs. E315

I currently own an E715, but it's pretty banged up. Been dropped on numerous occasions. The screen is showing very visible lines in the display. The phone even "restarts" itself when I'm trying to access T-zones and IM, for what reason, I do not know. I've seen and tested the E315, but I want to know if it is really worth the $200 or should I just buy a new E715 and call it a day?

Another gripe I have about the E715 is that the volume seems to be really low in public areas, i.e. in a crowd, driving with or without the window down, etc. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just me?

Also, side note. I used to own the Samung A310 (http://www.samsungusa.com/cgi-bin/nabc/produ ct/b2c_product_detail.jsp?eUser=&prod_id=SCH- A310) for Verizon. ...

I currently own an E315 and feel that it is definetly worth the money. Don't know why Samsung hasn't put whisper mode on any other models cuz I have a hard time hearing in loud places with my E315.

Is there a place to ask questions and make suggestions to Samsung? Cause it would be a nice feature to have back.

I've read about the E800 in Europe or Asia somewhere that uses basically the same technology. I don't think that's coming stateside, tho. ☹️

Yeah they always get the best stuff overseas. If anything cool like that comes to the US it will probably be awhile. I wish that E800 would come stateside..that thing is sweet. There might be a link on the Samsung website to make a suggestion or contact them.

Yeah, I know what you mean. We get the back end of the goods here. I'll probably get the E315. It's bascially just an upgrade of the E715. Can you put your own wallpaper on the outer display, or is it just those damned different colors? Kinda defeats the purpose if you can't set your own pics as the wallpaper inside and out.

Yeah just get it. You will be happy with it. No, you cannot put your own personalized wallpapers on the external display which does kinda suck. But the fact that you can take a picture with the phone closed and have a full color display to see makes up for it in my opinion. And if you wanna wait there is supposedly going to be a megapixel Samsung released soon. Its called the P735 I think.

Yeah, I've seen info on that one, too. It looks kinda hefty, tho. I'm lookin' for something small and streamlined. I might just wait to test it our tho. But, I'm workin' on a $300 budget here. And people keep saying that one is going to cost at least $400 when it finally does come out. ☹️

biggest diffs between the E715 and E315 is that the E715 has an IR port-E315 has AIM built in-E715 has a flash-E315 has video capability---would recommend the E315 as I have heard from around 10-20 customers (I work for TMobile) that their phones will randomly restart and when it does so you will lose your dloaded content and pictures.

my e715 NEVER randomly restarts.....what version of the firmware do you have? L2 and DC5 are pretty much the most liked versions if its older then that, that may be your problem.....honestly i would not get the E315, here is why

just like the E316/317 they are on their first version of the firmware, the E316 firmware has been known to crash and erase many things when you have too much data on the phone, the video mode on the E315/6/7 is pathetic, its basically the 15 shot quick shot mode on the E715, currently there is no way to send video via MMS on the e315/6/7, E315 has no "flash", you can get pictures and what not to show on the OLED on the E715, it just takes some creative firmware modding, the only benefit i can see from the E315 is...
