Different reps have told me different things about Flex Pay. Is a credit checck needed for it, or not?

if you would like the annual contract on flexpay for a "midsized" discount on your handset then yes, if you want just month to month, no contract, then no you don't.
there is no activation fee with either, so your upfront cost will be that of the handset (not as much of a discount as a standard annual contract) and your first months bill. you can also get away from having to pay the $4.99 charge by signing up for easypay.
hope that helps

yeah there is no activation fee but you get the same discount on a handset as a regular post paid customer when you sign a contract, there is no different type of discount for flex pay customers that sign a contract

The computer system has a option to select credit check or not. Reps are still new at doing it so the info will not be uniform for a few weeks.

A side note, if you elect not to do a credit check, you can activate on month to month even if you owe $1000 from a past written off account...just like you could always do with prepaid.

if you just want the month to month plan, let the sales rep know, and they just click the box marked "no credit check", however if you run the credit check with your social security number, it will check on past accounts.

a side note: even if you are approved for a regular account, you can still ask for flex pay if you want it, say if for instance you were worried about going over your minutes or having your child go nuts downloading games

The flex play plans are the exact same as the normal plans. The only difference is that you'd pay upfront if you were month-to-month.

Thanks.
I have found that if you go to a retailer you may get a better deal. The one I was at offered unlimited text messaging for $6.

Can unlimited cell and tex for one lowered fee be far away?
I dont get Cricket here

craigslist in chicago (I dont live there) still waiting to hear if its a start up 1000 minutes or monthly.
But I have to say..the basic "my fave" plan looks hard to beat.

300 anytime minutes
Unlimited nights and weekends
Unlimited "My Faves)
$39/month
How can that be beat?

i'd be REALLY skeptical about any offers like unlimited texting for $6 dollars (there is actually a 9.99 promotional unl msg plan for myfaves plans going on now), they can sell you whatever phone they want for whatever they think you will pay for it, but the service is t-mobile's; unless they plan on crediting you the difference for the life of your contract, there is no way they can offer you price plans that are different from what tmo offers. remember folks "always read the small print" if the offer seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. if its not printed on your contract by the computer, its not valid.

it depends on which department you go to. if your going to telesales there is no option to say "dont give this person a credit check." as much as customers want to think it and as much as they get the run around...in telesales there is no way to not get a credit check...unless your getting a true prepaid phone that is. our system just doesnt work that way (i work in telesales myself). tmobile retail stores are a little bit of a different story. but in telesales your getting the check. sorry

i work in a tmobile sales callcenter. if you go through telesales youre getting a credit check NO MATTER WHAT. its only after the check do we determine what type of flexpay you are..and that may be the no contract type. but all of flexpay is still dependent upon a credit check. and as of right now there is no real way around that.
