Need help from a T-Mobile customer

Hi All,
I have a BB Pearl that is locked to T-Mobile, but I live in Toronto, Canada, so obviously can't use TMO.
I know that TMO provides unlocking codes free of charge if you are a customer in good standing, so I was hoping that a current TMO customer could call and give their account # along with my IMEI # and email address to get an unlocking code. I've spoken to TMO to verify this is do-able and would not cost you anything more than the 5 minutes or so on the phone and I would be willing to PayPal someone $10 for a beverage of their choice for their help.
Anybody willing to help me out on this?

Thanks in Advance,
-Michael.

call me crazy but doesn't tmobile know what phones are on your account? So why would they give an unlock code for a phone that is not on your account. I would think they wouldn't from preventing exactly what you want to do.

I spoke with TMO and the phone does not have to be active on your account. You just need the IMEI number and then they email the code to you.

Someone at TMO isn't following policy so most likely you will hear a different story when you call back.

They will verify the puchase date and length of contract. If it was purchased at no commit price they will unlock. If you have worked off or paid off early the contract they will unlock.

If the phone is over two years old they will unlock.

Of course, you get the right rep on the right day, then policy goes right out the window.

So then give it a shot. Who knows, it might work? Plus you'll want to try it before T-Mobile does start charging for it. If all the other carriers charge a fee for it, T-Mobile will sooner or later.
