Any of you here that work for T-Mobile know if the Razr V3 phone will make it to T-Mobile, and when?

Thanks

No it does not... Cingular no longer sells unlocked phones... All our phones are locked.

Yeah, they started locking them again. I'm sure someone, somewhere can unlock one though. After that you'll have to program all the internet settings into it, but it's not so hard. I used the V400 on T-mobile for awhile with no problems whatsoever.

I always tell my customers to go to the shadiest, seediest looking dollar store that sells cell phone service and ask them to unlock it. They usually pay about $20 for it, but it's well worth it.

according to the T&C for t3h cingular they WILL supply the subsidy unlock code if you are out of contract, or cancel and pay the ETF, or are active on service for 90 days and are leaving the country.....i am t3h informdededed customer 😁

Yes we will provide the subsidy unlock with stipulations and the account must be current... To buy the Razr V3 @ cingular hold it for 90 days/or pay off contract/or out of contract and just buy the phone to use on tmob is just pointless... Might as well stay on cingular.

Uhm... Ok... let's see...

You start new service and purchase the Razr V3 for $499.99... End your contract for the subsidy unlock code $240... then activate new service w/ tmobile (give or take $80+)... $819.99 to have your Razr on tmobile... Uhm... Yeah, you're right... That's just my opinion... that makes perfect sense...

or you purchase the phone, $499.99 get it unlocked, and switch to t mobile once you are out of contract, what is the 1 year agreement price for the V3?

The one year is $549.99. It makes more sense to buy it at the no commitment price at $599.99 and not have to deal with any contract or BS. Just purchase it, and I guess you'd call in for the unlock code? I have no clue...

If you buy the phone for Retail @ Best Buy, the phones come unlocked. This was my experience with the V600 before T-Mobile came out with it. At least here in Augusta and Atlanta this applies, but it never hurts to try. 🙂

I wouldn't pay a penny for that Motorola Razr V3!!! It's ugly! It's so f*ckin long, like a remote control!! Motorola seems to be going backward instead of forward! 🙄 Instead of making better software & better features to fit into smaller & lighter phones to make it more carry-able! They make bad software (on some phones), bigger & longer phones and not as much features! What's up with that? 😕

No, we will not unlock the phone if they buy it outright... we will only unlock it if they are:

1) Cingular can only unlock Cingular devices and not those of other carriers.

2) Cingular will only unlock the original Cingular device that was used during the service period. Alternate Cingular devices may not be substituted.

3) Cingular will only unlock a Cingular device on request by the authorized account holders either directly or indirectly through another carriers representative.

4) A Cingular device without valid proof of purchase at the no commitment price that has never been activated on the Cingular network will not be unlocked.

5) All the conditions for eligibility must be met before a Cingular device can be unlocke...

On #4 I noticed it said "without" a valid PoP will not be unlocked. Does that infer that a phone WITH valid PoP at no commitment which has never been activated on Cingular can be unlocked? The rules kind of leave a big hole which is open to interpretation. Just trying to educate myself here. =o)

Eligibility for no commitment:

With a valid proof of purchase that clearly indicates that the Cingular device was purchased at the no commitment price.

Actual Cingular device and item on receipt must match.

So by reading that... I would assume that with the proper proof we will unlock phones purchased outright...

I actually spoke with a T-Mobile national accounts manager a couple of days ago when he was in my store, and we started talking about the V3 when he saw the Cingular poster. He said that their company president was actually carrying it right now and loves it. He seemed to think that was a pretty good indication that T-Mobile might get it eventually, but I don't think there are any firm plans or dates.

We are not planning on releasing any more phones for 2004. The last was the Mot A630. I really like the razr V3 its schweet! I will definately file a "voice" ticket suggesting something similar to it, but this particular model is only cingular exclusive. We have a pretty good relationship with Motorola, and market a lot of their products. As far as unlocking, I wouldnt say go to the hassle of buying, cancelling waiting 90 days yadda yadda yadda...but T-Mobile DOES provide unlock codes for our customers, even if the phone was from another gsm carrier...only requirement is-if you're requesting it, we have to know the account information from which the phone was last activated on in order for our sim unlock dept to gain the code...100% totally ...

motorola have bugs? say it isnt so! Yes, I am still myself VERY weary of them, as I've had a V300 and V600 both of which worked for about 2 months then went to crap. of all the choices I have, currently I'm using a plain old Samsung R225...its about 2 years old, and never had a day's trouble out of it, not so much as a hickup. I know mot. is working hard to try to clear their smudged name, and I wish we could depend on their phones because I actually like them a lot-they pack a lot of features and style. My cousin is an engineer for motorola, project development on the cdma side, and he says over there anyway motorola is doing much better than the T730/V120 days, he doesnt know about the gsm side. I guess the best we can do is just wait ...

I dont know what all the hoopla is about. I saw the phone and was not impressed. I see why some of the reps that received them are trying to sell. It was too wide and thiker than I thought it would be. My old T28 was thinner than this thing. I guess you either love it or hate it.

Yeah I wish they would update the upcoming handset launch list soon so we can see what's coming out here soon. I have to wonder, though: What would pricing be, around the same?

That's the only thing that makes me almost go into cardiac arrest is what I see price tags on stinking cell phones in excess of $500-$600!! I could buy a sidekickII AND an Ipaq h6315 for that! Oh wait, I just did, one's under the christmas tree and the other one's on order tentitively, I just have to press the button lol.
