Let me try to be more specific about the t-mobile / sprint thing.

I live in Oak Lawn, IL which I get FULL BARS most of the time with sprint. I had t-mobile a few years ago (3 Years ago to be exact) And Got 4/5 bars at home. Not sure if they have improved reception in 3 years, but I am ASSUMING they did.

I work in Vernon Hills, IL (About 50 Miles from where I live) and the place where I work gets full bars with sprint, until I walk into the offices. Then I have 1 or 2 bars.

I've never used Sprint here.

It's just hard because all the networks have the "BEST" network.

I drive by about 5 cingular signs, 4 or 5 t-mobile signs, and about 3 sprint signs on my way to work.....

All I ever see is "T-mobile, the fewest dropped cal...

Let me ask you this....what do you want to do with your phone? Talk? Text? Web(WAP)?

Go o T-Mo's and Sprint's website, compare the coverage, and see what they both have to offer.

I will tell you this, if your looking for data, Sprint, hands down (if in the area) will beat ANY competitor, for the price.

Check out Sprint's SERO offers, and compare with T-Mo. Here's the URL....www.sprint.com/sero.

If there are ANY questions, I can answer for you, about Sprint, feel free to PM me. (plans, coverage, discounts.etc.)

Cheers,
-Yean

You need to try all four out, and see who covers you best. Until you do, you won't be able to proceed any further.

If they wind up being about the same, then things like reliability and CS would be the next determining factor. Verizon and T-Mobile excel in those areas. You will have network and handset issues no matter which carrier you choose.

Yeah, they all brag about being the best, but whatever works best for you is truly the best to have. 😁

Bars mean nothing you either have a signal or don't. so if you have 1 bars all in your work its the same as full bards. NO if you dont' have any yes you get a chance of dropped calls. However I believe tmobile is pcs only also so you will get no better inside reception unless they have a tower closer then sprint to your work.

You always going to get dropped calls! I deal with this stuff from customers alot... You can have a tower in your back yard and still get them...

3 main reasons you get a dropped call:

1.) network issue (traffic is so high it's starts bumping people to make room for other people is one of the examples I could think of)

2.) Geography. I live in a bottom floor apartment, in a valley surrounded by trees I don't get $hit for coverage in my apartment, take 2 steps outside and I can talk all day... signals have to travel through air which is a medium as it is and when it's got go through trees, buildings and rocks it will always diminish the strength of the signal. ALWAYS. It's called a landline use that for your home and a cell for ...

true you can get a dropped call with full bars. That was my point. BUt if your signal is at the limit then you can lose it and you will get a dropped call. But yes even with full bars you can and will get dropped calls.

I live in Chicago as well. I live in Oak Brook and drive to Wood Dale, Schaumburg, Mt Prospect, Prospect Heights and Mettawa all the time. I've rarely lost a phone call with T-Mobile. I've tried Sprint, Verizon and ATT and each time I return to T-Mobile.

I disagree with the writer that bars don't matter. To me they do. When I was with ATT when I'd get 2 bars the other party would say "you're breaking up" or "what did you say", but I never heard that with 5 bars. For me T-Mo consistantly get's 5 bars in the Chicago area and I've just returned last week from ATT (had to have an iPhone) but I'd rather have good service than good looks.

I do agree with the author that you should spend whatever you can afford in the phone, it really d...

it doesn't want whether you agree or disagree if you get in an area where a tower has no where to relay a signal or a tower is full, regardless of signal strength you will get a dropped call. Bars do matter but not as much as you think... i'd rather have 2 or 3 everywhere than full in select areas.

“Bars do matter but not as much as you think...” not really, because you can have zero bars or one bar and still be able to get out a call. The problem comes to point is if the call can be held or will it be dropped. There is a misconception to the wireless consumers about bars and the more bars the better. Not true at all. If they look inside the phone, you can see what the signal strength is and signal quality is. Certain numbers in those two areas will show whether a drop call will be made. Such as DB, etc. Another way companies can fool consumers and obviously consumers are buying it.
