With the purchase of Suncom going through the beginning of next year and thanks to help from people in this forum i have found that T-Mobile is coming to the Knoxville TN area i suppose my question to this is what kind of time line are we looking at to see T-Mobile when were in North and South Carolina and will they just convert the suncom stores to T-Mobile or will they just build new and if anyone does know the answer i do have a side question any estimates on how long after receiving building licenses and permits it usually takes for T-Mobile to build their stores and network systems in a new area i know its alot and they grammar stinks but just typing it as i think thanks for any help anyone

Things need to change in order to turn suncom’s operations around. Probably they need to fire every employee and change the stores. It might even be better to get new store locations. people do think of images so moving the stores will help.
...
I think you would be correct i dont know if they will fire everyone but i do see all T-Mobile management moving into the area from other parts of the country to run the stores and hiring new ppl in the areato a point i imagine they will keep some of the reps for their customer bases i wonder how they will go about converting the suncom customers over to T-Mobile
...
Well, everyone probably won’t be fired but I think a majority will. They need a new marketing team, and sales team. Their management’s strategy obviously has been horrible throughout their tenure. I think, unless they are already going to be replaced, that none of the management team stays with T-mobile. I think they need to re-do the stores and maybe even just get rid of the stores altogether and start to plot where are good areas that would bring a high level of return. Obviously, with towers and moving of them is quite difficult but perhaps T-mobile can infuse capital both on the spectrum side and adding towers in those areas to allow for great coverage but to allow higher speed in those areas. A brand name and image can really ...

you should refer the past case of Voicestream
DT acquired it in 2001, and changed the name a year later
here is my guess
most of employees will be kept, maybe screened to migrate
building more coverage/deploy 3G there will be first priority, T-Mobile has to tune up the sites to their high standard before changing name (Suncom coverage is pretty lacking)
changing names and logos should be the last thing, probably when 3G is officially launched there

This is different then with voicestream. I can't even believe you put it on the same scale. Voicestream was doing good. Suncom oh god suncom is not. They will not keep all employees. In fact very very few in my opionion. They will change it and change it quick once it is finale. Suncom is close to done as they stand now. They are hardly adding subscribers and in all the locations they are in they only have a little over one million. Ever since they went on their own after att was bought they have ben going downhill fast!

the only problem i have with that is the fact it could easily be years before 3G launches for T-Mobile because the spectrum that was purchased has not been vacated by the goverment and places like homeland security said they should be off the spectrum in 3 years and untill their off the spectrum their is nothing they can do to launch 3g
...
that is not all the of the spectrum bought!
...
While that may be true, it isn’t 100% of the 3G spectrum they purchased. In fact, they already have some markets not up and running yet, but almost 100% overlay with 3G. I can’t say, but they are some pretty good markets.

Stores usually take about a little over two months to get up and running, at least in minnesota.
t-mobile internally had to force some positions to reapply for their jobs, so i am assuming that all the suncom employees will have a chance to reapply and be look at right away. jumping jobs in cellular is not too uncommon. in the minneapolis market, verizon will jump to t-mobile and t-mobile will jump to verizon for jobs. it is a big consideration for the big guys to hire someone who is already familiar with cell phones.
