switching phone numbers
My wife and I each have a line with T-Mobile. My wife's account is on month to month and mine has another 15 months left to go. We wish to change phone numbers. When I called the company to change they just told me to change the sim cards. Why won't they allow me to just change the two numbers?

you want to swap numbers? if this is correct swapping the sim cards is all that is necessary. is there a reason you want to keep your sim cards and just change the numbers? if you want to keep your phone #'s on your cards you can visit a retail store and have the phone #'s copied to the other sim. hope this helps.

The reason I want to switch actual numbers is for the following reason. My wife has been on month to month service for awhile. I still have over 16 months to go on my two year contract. I would like to have her take over my contract using her same phone number to allow me to go to another carrier and then port my number over. This way she runs out my contract not having to pay the E.T.F. She still keeps her own number and I can port over my own number without having to buy out the contract. Does this make sense and can it be done? Anyone!!

Call the service center and ask them.

You won't be able to switch the contracts on the 2 phone numbers. Each line has a contract that it agreed to and needs to be upheld. The most they would be able to do would be to switch the phone numbers on the different sims, but then each line would still have the original plan and contract.
