I need tier 3 help, and spent 2 hours calling tmobile tech support from Japan on my dime, and after finally being told i was being forwarded to tier 3, i got disconnected.

basically, SMS messages from Softbank Japan (aka Vodafone) to T-Mobile users are NOT going through, most of the time, or show up 1-2 weeks later.

I know this because I have tested my Softbank Japan phone against my friends and family back in the states. softbank bought out vodafone. If the text messaging is leaving softbank for all the other carriers just fine then its a tmobile problem. I beleive the system that all the carriers use the same that is why you can now text jsut about any carrier. If it is not a softbank issue then switching to docomo or AU will not fix it.

one other thing why don't you email text messages from japan and you say you call back to the states on your dime do you have a internet phone? Will save you allot of money. I use me softbank phone only for japan to japan calls as its expensive here. Not to mention calling back to the states. And international messages are not cheap. Read a warning form the military command here about military members racking up to 30,000 a month cell phone bills in japan!

Sorry for so many post. Also remember if you exceed 160 characters in japan it is converted to VGS Mail (short mail). As of now there are no US carriers that can receive it.
