SunCom Acquisition
Ok, as you all may know T-Mobile is buying out Suncom in the very near future. I live in NC where there is NO T-MOBILE and I'm currently on AT&T (cingular). Im glad t-mobile is buying suncom as suncom is a provider in the carolina's. I just can't belive t-mobile has not put up towers here long before a proposed buyout of suncom. North Carolina is a VERY populated state believe it or not and you would think they would have already been here. Either way...I look forward at the possiblity of ditching at&t in the near future for a network that (from what I can see) has much better rate plan, and text/data offerings then what I currently have.
Does anyone know (officially) when after this merger t-mobile will start activating in the carolinas on the purchased suncom network?

well you have to understand how long it takes for a big business to merge. they probably have to wait due to laws ect. I believe once t-mobile aquires the company fully they will also aquire all the towers as well.

Well T-mobile did not have spectrum in that area and they did not feel that expanding in the NC and SC areas would be most beneficial by themselves so they bought out Suncom. You have to realize this is a merger so regulators and the shareholders must approve it and the process can take up to 10 months. Be patient. They can start to make plans but T-mobile cannot use Suncom’s assets until it is transferred and oked by the regulators and shareholders.

And also the towers that suncom lease from who they sold all their towers to would most likely remain in tact. Or they wouldn't have spent money on buying suncom.
...
Everything that Suncom has will transfer with them including the leases to the cell sites and other equipment.
...
yeah I figured that. Tell me this do you think tmobile will put up their own towers or do they lease most of theirs now?
...
It is a tossup but with this industry leasing the towers, I think T-mobile would follow the same with this purchase.
