2005 deals/phones

I'm planning to switch to T-Mobile in March, as that's when I'm coming off of my Nextel contract. I plan to get either the Nokia 6600 or something along those lines when I sign up.

Two questions:

1)Should I expect to be able to get similar deals to the ones that are available now, such as the a1wireless.com $49.99 (after rebates)? Might the deals be worse (or better)?

2)What are the odds that another reasonably priced smart phone will be available through T-mobile by March of 2005?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Answer to 1) The deals may not get better but I'm not so sure they'll be any worse either. If you look at the 3rd party retailers then you'll always get better de...

The Blackberry 7100t is also a sweet device, and very reasonably priced. Just don't buy from A1 Wireless or anyone like them online. I'm starting to sound like a broken record, but if you look at the fine print on those "unbelievable" online offers, you'll will see that those prices are AFTER some huge rebate that they themselves offer, which is often very shady and hard to actually get back. I'm sure very few people listen to me because they are sure that they are savvy consumers getting the best deal, but for the love of God, please do a little research and find feedback online from people who have used those sites. You'll see what I'm talking about.

I appreciate, and will heed your advice. I bought my last phones from letstalk.com, and yes, the deals always involve a couple of special in-house, hoop-jumping rebates; but they did work out in the end. I'll definitely see what kind of quality deal I can get from a real live rep first--heck, maybe there are startup fees or something that could be waved to sweeten the deal somewhere. Who knows?!

No other thoughts from anyone about upcoming phones? Am I correct in assuming that there will be no 6620 or other Nokia smartphone update before March?

Another few good places if you're looking online are amazon.com and imphonic.com as well. Generally authorized dealers, and indirect retailers offer a tad bit better pricing to undersell their competition (T-Mobile corporate retail stores). However, thats not to say always. Just like buying anything, you just need to shop around, especially with an expensive phone like the 6600. It's not just a purchase but an investment. Someone else already said the best advise there is to be said, which is "reserch". You have until march and in the cellular industry, ALOT of things could change by then. You're very wise looking ahead and asking questions now 🙂

1. It depends on the corporate store manager. Retail reps CAN work out nice packages for customers.

2. Price changes on phones and PDAs vary from month to month. I really couldn't give you a precise price on a phone because I have no idea what our lineup will look like in March 2005.
