Well, I wouldn't put it past anyone if that did happen, however it wouldn't be smart. I don't believe that most people are aware even if you pay for a phone, how much it really is subsidized by your carrier. However, incentives are all part of marketing stratagies, and "free" phones are always going to be on consumers' lists. If someone wants a free phone and carrier "a" is offering it, and carrier "b" is not. Many times the consumer will stop right there and look no further. That will be the determining factor.
However, it's not necessarily good for the carrier either in terms of investment turnaround. This is much a reason why most other carriers are asking for 2 year contracts. Some have the option of 1 as well, but notice the price o...
