Don't Go with Cingular - Read This!

The merger of AT&T and Cingular has resulted in a complete breakdown of what used to be AT&T's good customer service. Let me enumerate Cingular's flaws:

1 - Virtually impossible to access customer service. Has anyone tried to navigate through the extremely long voice-only activated menu?

2 - No customer loyalty plan. I have been a customer of AT&T Wireless for 5-6 years. I have not asked for a new phone in 3 years. I wanted to upgrade my service but wanted a good deal on a phone. At AT&T, given what I spend, I have always received a free phone or greatly reduced phone price. At Cingular, I was given the same price as on the internet or in the store for new customers. You may be dissatisfied, but you are totally off topic for this forum. I suggest that you learn to control yourself and post where it will do you some good. It likely won't do you any good to post this rant in the T-Mobile forum.

Did you folks ever wonder how this person might "help" our cause? This person may actually bring more customers to T-Mobile. If this they rant and rave about the hell Cingular/ATT is putting them through, they could help others possibly looking for a reason not to go with them, and sign with us. Don't be so quick to judge.

I read TOS on Data Connect brochure
Cing does not state are you allowed to stream audio/video or not, if it's not allowed, I won't go
and MEdia works offer will be ending Jan15

Right now the MEdia Works has not been announced to expire... I don't know where you heard that from. Just clearing things up.

I read a pamphlet in Cing store
said it's Jan 15
stop by Cing store, pick up MEdia pamphlet, and see the small characters on the back
and, if Data Connect don't let me use streaming audio/video for 79.99 plan/option, sorry, I'll lose all the appetite to Cingular

I'll definitely have to look into that, haven't seen anything on the sys but that's not saying it may not be true.

As far as streaming audio/video... Do you mean like From phone to PC or from another source to phone?

We have MobiTV, 6620 can control WinAMP from the phone, and some of our phones support MP4 playback... I think you're leaning more towards the realtime aspect which the 6620 offers... But that's more a phone feature than a network feature and the 19.99 MEdia works would cover it...

Once again, I am only assuming this is what you're talking about... if i'm wrong please explain.

it's tethering (phone as modem)
use real/wmp/GSPlayer on pocket pc (Dell Axim, SX66 is too beaucoup)
because I listen real/wmp on the road a lot, plus shoutcast once EDGE is officially activated (64k or 128k shoutcast stream) on T-Mobile
I don't have big problem to use streaming audio over T-Mobile GPRS, except port 554 for realaudio (but most of radio stations have alternative port for real audio, or having streaming winmedia option)

Ah... You shouldn't have a problem w/ the 6620... I stated earlier it is capable of running WinAMP, comes pre-loaded w/ Real Player, and is data capable... Keep in mind though you now have a 30 day buyer's remorse period, I would recommend taking advantage of that Buyer's Remorse period to ensure that it works for your needs...

My friend has Cingular and they are putting her thru hell with her phone!! She had the Samsung X427M and it was defected when she bought it! So she called Cingular they said no that it isn't defective to give it a few more days(how would cingular know without taking a look at the phone)! Then the problem still prestited so she called again for the second time!! They said that she waited to long but that can "SEE" what they can do(what a bunch of a**holes they are). So she sent it back. About 2 weeks went by(t-mobile only takes about 5 days or less)!!! She got the same defective one back!! So she called again for the "THIRD TIME"!! They said no we cannot do anything for you, you need to go and buy a new one at full price!! So she flipped out ...

Bigger?? 😳 More like Bigger cheaters!! You need to start taking this criticism like an adult rather than as a personal hit. Admit it folks, Cingular's Cust Svc is not near that of T-Mobile's, never was and if they continue their trends, they never will be! It's only their front office that can change it! End of story and enough said.

So instead of making maturity/immaturity remarks, learns to accept the direness of the reality about the products and services your company offers. More ...

I was referring to T-Mob and Cingular... No matter what valid points are made about T-mobile USA... Cingular is still bigger...

And while Cingular may be BIGGER, granted they are, but they seriously need to make their Customer Service BETTER!!! Constructively speaking.

I don't know about feeling like excrament... Hopefully he just acts this way in the forums and not on the phones... I know there's alot of things i'll tell a customer in these forums I would never say on the phone.

Also though there's not too many people that can give credit to each provider... Most will be biased at one point... Especially in these forums.

Well Jessi, the feeling is mutual here too although I never personally addressed an "I hate you" forum. I only said I hate Cingular because their Customer Service is......shall we say dislecsic?!? I mean come one woman, the writing is all over this forum that Cingular's customer service sorely needs work and if you are adult enough, then you wouldn't take this as a personal hit. After all we are here to express our opinions an isn't that what a forum is about in the first place? 🙄
