I just switch from Sprint to T-Mobile. I took my number with me. About now they're working on my towers, so I can make and receive calls and use T-Zones. To anybody that knows T-Mobile well, how long does it take to use the phone. Thanks. 😉

Well, I'm not quite sure what exactly you are waiting on to kick in, so I'll try to cover a few things:

Your phone number: Unless something goes wrong, it should take no longer than 24 hours coming over from another wireless carrier. (Towards the end, you may experience dual service for a while, that is completely normal-that is where both phones will ring with the same phone number)

Your phone service: As soon as your number is activated it will work.

T-Zones: Within 72 hours it will begin to work, however don't forget to register your number on T-Mobile.com (you may also use this for managing your account too, which is neat, but just the act of registering is enough to allow your T-Zones to work, you don't have to mess with any s...

I switched carriers Friday evening. All customer services told me that I had to wait 72 hours for T-Zones and they still working on my towers for the receptions to come in. I still can't get no calls nor make calls. The only thing working now is text messaging. So I'm looking at Monday to see if everything works. 😉

According to our info, there are currently issues with ports in from Sprint, and they are implementing procedures to make it run more smoothly--however in the meantime it can still take a bit of time. If you haven't spoken to the number transfer center yet, you might want to call in to customer care and ask to be transferred there, as there are some error conditions they can fix with regard to Sprint port ins.

Believe me I have called the 24/7 line and the 611 Customer Care service about the issue. They said the number porting went through but I can't make calls until the towers are fixed. I received one call but it went into voice mail. My T-Zones are are still being worked on as well. All of this takes 72 hours. I can only get text messages now. I have to see Monday if everything is taken care. I kind of knew it may take awhile because I took my number from Sprint. 😉

Good looking out, aleq. (I didn't see that issue before I spoke)

"fixing my towers"...that just doesn't make sense in that context. Where do you live, Sara? I know we've got a few network issues going on at the moment, heck at any given time we do. I can't think of anything off the top of my head that I read tonight on our "troubleshooting" map that would effect voice service and new activations, unless it was with the port itself....hmmmmmmmmm *scratches head*

I live in New York City in a 14 story building. if that helps. If I make any calls, there's dead air. If people try to call me, it goes to voice mail. I'll find out later today if my lines are available. 😉

That is the strangest thing. You should have no problem what so ever with coverage in NYC. If you have voicemail already, and thats the only thing that people get when they call you it's indicitive of call forwarding not being set up correctly, however when you make a call out there's dead air. That could be anything. If it's in conjunction with porting a sprintpcs number (and you're affected by the number port issue with sprint) over it more than likely has to do with that.
eep us posted i'm intested as to find out what turns out. 🙂

There is a Network Outage going on in NYC right now. That's the reason why she cannot hear or be heard, or have static on the calls that do go through. đŸ˜ĸ

Thanks!

That's exactly what the T-Mobile rep said. He personally switched from Sprint to T-Mobile. His number was ported. That took a few days for to him to be set up. 😲

Again I talked to T-Mobile Customer Care. They said there is some issue with the towers in the New York City area. There are four towers where I live and there is some kind of interference. The problem should be resolved in a day or two. The rep also says it could be the phone itself. I have the Motorola V600. Because I can make certain call outside but not in my house. If I do make calls, it's not very clear, sounds broken up. What can I do? Help! ☚ī¸

Oh gosh I'm so sorry! Not a great first impression at all!

It always sucks when new customers come on board and there an outage in their area. Before we can do any further troubleshooting, we have to wait until the network issue is resolved first. I am not at work yet today, but I did check the ICM last night, and in NYC there were a couple towers down. I'm not going to jump to any conclusions right now as to what it may or may not be. I (any rep) would need to review the overall outlook of the situation, get the symptoms, make sure no network issues were effecting you, and more than likely have you talking to us from another phone other than your mobile to accurately troubleshoot.
I wish I could help you out a little more right now.

Thank you for responding to my messages! 🙂 I talked to T-Mobile twice today and they did have outages in my area in NYC today, but when I got home I was able to use my phone to get voice mail and I finally got good signal! T-Mobile reps were very helpful and so were you. Now I'm having a problem getting T-Zones because the website is having problems registering new customers numbers. I'm still not able to activate T-Zones. I got a trouble-shooting ticket for that situation. So one problem down and another to resolve. If there's any advice you can give me please let me know. Thanks again! 😉

To bizkitsngravy:

I was able to use my phone in my house for a couple of hours. They still working on the outages in my area (NYC 10027). They still working on getting my number registered at T-Mobile.com. So this is taken awhile, but I'm hanging in there. 🙂 Again the Customer Services were very helpful and resourceful. If you anything about the outages in my area, let me know thanks. 😉

You bet, I work the graveyard shift, that is 4:30pm-1am, so I'm at home right now, haven't looked at the ICM today. The T-Mobile.com thing has been going on for a while, where new customers are unable to register for the first time. It can be fixed, your number just has to be added to the list on the master trouble ticket and it's been taking no longer than 72 hours. So, you're phone WAS working? as in-it's not now?

Again I talked to T-Mobile Customer Care this morning. I again told them that I couldn't make calls in my area. The rep was telling me that It could be the area that I live. I told her that I was told there were outages in my area. She looked it and and again she say the four towers in my area (NYC 10027) are out and they still working on them and they don't have a time frame when they're going to be finish. Plus I still don't get access to T-Zones because of the outage. I have until January 1st to return my phone. I don't want to. But if this problem continues, I will have to do so. ☚ī¸

Hey, I''m so sorry I wasn't able to respond yesterday, I was on here for a brief moment but had to go do some last minute christmas shopping.

Unfortunately, with any carrier, networks are susceptible to breaking down (outages). This will normally occur with anything of a mechanical, electrical, or programmable nature. It just comes with maintaining something as large as a mobile network. There will always be outages occasioncaly, however it SUCKS whenever a customer is coming on board during one. It is rather embarrassing for us, and a bad first impression for you. There is little to nothing we can do outside of waiting until it is back up.

However, sunisolia is right. You are entitled to compensation, and it's definitely within our ...
