My girlfriend is going to Italy next month and she currently has the Motorola RIZR. How does this work???

I know they use GSM over there but what kind of roaming charges do you get hit with? Is there charges at all? And does T-Mobile rent out phones for a month...specifically blackberrys?

Rizr is a GSM Quad band phone, it has 900 and 1800 frequency to work in Europe and most other countries. Depends on how rich your girl friend is, she can just flips out the Rizr and dial at $.60/minute(last time I checked). Or if she is not as rich, take the SIM card out of her phone before she leaves the States, then buy a local pre-paid SIM card in Italy at a much affordable price. Of course, she is going to have a different phone number when she changes SIM card.
Oh, I forgot to mention one important point, She needs to call T-mo and request for an unlock code. Without the phone being unlocked, the foreign SIM would not work. Here I am assuming her phone is locked to T-mo service.
