Connecting your phone to your laptop will provide you with a feature called "Tethering". You can connect your T-Mobile phone to your computer with a USB cable. (Comes in box with Blackberries. Ebay for other phones.)
As long as you have an unlimited wireless internet plan (19.99 and up only) you can get wireless internet on your laptop! (Phone as modem feature) Other carriers will make you pay extra to do this.

This is how you do it. (PC only, running Windows)

Click Start, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options, Modems Tab.
Highlight Standard Modem and click Properties.
Click the Advance Tab.
Enter in the Extra Initialization Command field:
+cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com" .
Click Ok.
Create the Dial up Networking

other carriers charge extra for it since 3g. Before sprint had 3g it was free also. It wasn't worth doing. It is too slow. And since tmobile is not 3g yet it is not worth it. When they deploy 3g it will not be free. Because then more people will be doing it and they will charge for it.

Actually, no.

#1: Dial up isn't "almost free".
#2: My Apartment offers DSL for free with signing. So I get free DSL, two bedroom for 550 a month.

so, HA HAA!

your ha ha what? That you live in an apartment. No thanks. ANd 9.99 is pretty much free.

I pay 1200 for a 5 bedroom 3500 square foot house with an acre. Oh and I own it! Oh 1229 since you included internet I will too.

my point was free DSL does not make the deal that great. Its nice but dsl is 20.00 a month now and 15 in some areas for basic.

Oh and I am married 5 kids and never went to college. However I don't see how any of that matters.

Back to what matters: Having free tethering on a phone included with the regular data package is a deal breaker for some, however slow the internet is. Especially wireless.

Status matters cause I'm only in an apartment cause I'm in school. I didn't know why that mattered to you in the first place, however.

It didn't you told me that info. I could care less. And 19.99 is to much for data package. If you care about price then like I said alltel is the best it gives you true free tethering like I said. And they have 3g.

one more thing. Its not free your already overpaying for what they call internet. I have alltel. I pay nothing for internet a month. I can connect my laptop up to EVDO (theirs or sprints depending were I am)on nights and weekends and it is truly free as alltel takes mins for data. Or even during the day but that would take my anytime min but its still free as I don't pay anything extra.
