TMO coverage, please help

If you look at the coverage map for the entire country, it shows a lot of no service spots. For instance, parts of west central Illinois and north central west Wisconsin. Also there is a dead spot in Illinois between Rockford and Dubuque Iowa. When I spoke with a corporate store, he told me that all the dead spots with Tmo, you can roam with AT&T, for no charge. So is this true? If so the coverage, even with roaming looks very good...

That is true only if ATT has coverage there... there are dead spots in the country where no cell carrier will reach.

Just take a glance at an ATT map.... however if you live in that "area" I sugguset you do not buy Tmo service.

1. If you are always roaming then Tmo can cancel you...unlikely..but it can happen..

2. Not all your digital features work while roaming.... like when 3G high speed data comes out it will not be 3G in that area.

3. Text msgs and voice mail indicators can be delayed and not work at all sometimes if in that area.

There are many more...

Good luck

I'm not saying it won't work fine, I'm saying that it could happen. In fact my parents live in an area that is very remote and is covered by ATT.... However, my texts aren't delivrede until days after they were sent and I get some (not all) VM notifications... When it does happen, all TMO will tell you is that it's becuase you are in a roaming area, and your digital features are not guaranteed to work in roaming areas.

I'm just trying to let them know what they "could" experience.

SO, let my get this straight. I am about to switch to tmobile this comming monday, they just put up towers in my area but the coverage is very spotty. Anyways ATT is here to, but again they are not very good. I am asking if ATT gets service in an any area that Tmobile does not I will be able to roam off of Tmobile, even where the coverage map says that I cannot? The reason I am asking is because I travel allover north georgia and Att has that area blanketed with coverage but Tmobile only has it on the impt. roads.

It's not as simple as if Tmo isnt there and ATT is....that you will be good to go...

Soo ATT and Tmo have roaming agreements....as does Tmo and a bunch of other big and small GSM carriers.... what you are missing is ATT may allow roaming from Tmo phones in certian areas but not others. Now normally it won't be a problem... but there could be spots where ATT is but you'll have zero bars. I don't think there are too many of these "areas" around anymore... but you always have a trial period where you can find out.....

Also if you goto Tmobile.com and do a coverage check..... Do a search for Liberal, Kansas ... This is just an example of where Tmo will work, but they have a roaming agreement. You should see on the legend that it's a roami...
