I often see on ebay that various cell phone manufactures are compatibile on various wireless carriers. Is this true? If i purchase a T mobile handset will it work properly on a different network (ex. Cingular)? Will text messaging, email, and wireless web work also?

The phone will work as long as the service uses the same technology. Example: Cingular and T-Mobile use GSM but Sprint and Verizon use CDMA. Therefore, a Cingular (GSM) phone would not be compatible with Verizon.
Also, make sure the phone you buy is unlocked, which means you can use a SIM card from a any carrier.

All the services will work as long as the phone is unlocked. As far as the internet working, you'll have to call tech support for that company and get the right settings because they vary by company. Hope that helped. 🙂
