EDGE when

I noticed there was a thread a few months back talking about EDGE rollout for t-Mobile, rumor was they begin rolling it out in December. Any news on this? I also read they are testing a UMTS platform that is easily upgraded to HSDPA, this was last month, any more info from anyone in the loop? T-Mobile is starting to have a good position in things, the larger companies seem to have become to big and unwieldly, much like what happened to the music industry, strangely there are many similiarites. I believe that business model will lead to failure. T-Mobile seems to have some good things going and I am going to give them a go when I get some free time. What will I expect to see in a few months from them?

Nothing I read about T-Mobile rolling out with EDGE sounded too concrete, but I also read that they already offer EDGE in select markets, but I'm not 100% sure if what I read in fact was the truth, that's all I can say.

Well, from my guessing through your referneces to the southeast, and music industry, you probably arnen't too far away from me at all, I'm in the southeast, too. I've had very little problems using the service where I'm at. There are some dead spots, but nothing that I normally travel through on a regular basis. So, it really doesn't effect me that much.

As far as the frequency we use, yes it is a known fact lower frequency has better signal penetration than a higher frequency, but there are different purposes for them. Any carrier that uses multiple frequencies does so to cover different aspects of it's service given any geographic, topographic, and populated area. Oh, and one more thing: don't forget about the personal coverage check, too
That's a map you can view at any corporate T-Mobile store showing you a more detailed map of the service in your (or any other) area, to help you make a more informed decision.

I really don't have any updates on the data side, but I will definately post them if I do find out
