3g in Grand Rapids, MI?

I am using an unlocked Blackjack II on TMobile. It is 3G capable from AT&T. My question is sometimes it will have an "E" displayed next to the signal indicator and sometimes a "G". Am I receiving, and able to utilize, a 3G signal?

Thanks

Nope, the E means you are getting an EDGE speed connection and the G means you able to receive a lowly GPRS connection. The unlocked Blackjack will not be able to use the T-Mobile 3G when it does launch anyway because it will be on a different frequency than the BJ radio.

Correct. AT&T uses the 850 and 1900 MHz frequencies for their 3G and T-Mobile plans to use 2100 MHz.

Make that 1700 MHz. Either way, totally incompatible with most phones.
