Options?

I've had my Slide for something like 7 months. It's a great phone, but I'm looking for something a little less expensive on the monthly access charges and something that is more phone, less laptop.

I'm wanting to get the new Nokia, the 5310 - but obviously if I don't have the money to spend on a higher plan for the Slide any longer, I don't really have the extra cash to buy one outright. Trying to get a simpler phone with a simpler plan is a little too difficult - then again, why would a carrier want to allow you to pay them less?

Anyhow, on the point of this post...

Outside of buying at retail price, what are my options on getting a new phone? I could always ebay a new one, I suppose, but what are some other trustworthy places ...

The only way I know of to get a phone the way you're asking is off eBay. However, one thing you could do is order the phone, have it applied to your bill, and then make payment arrangements with T-Mobile (assuming you're eligible for payment arrangements).

This will renew your agreement, but at least it'll get you the phone you want.

Per your previous post asking about ringtones, I'm assuming you'll want a music phone (correct me if I'm wrong). In that case, I'd recommend the Samsung Beat. It's one of the "free" phones online. Again, it increases your agreement, but that's the cheapest option I know of for you (and the phone's pricing will vary since you've only had your Slide for 7 months and probably won't be free).

Beware of ...

You're awesome.

That being said, I'm not particularly wanting a music phone - my phone plays music and I can't think of anything else that a "music phone" could do other than that. What's strange is that I'm not particularly drawn to the music feature on phones, so they really were two separate inquries. If the 5310 wasn't a music phone, it wouldn't matter... I just really liked it for it's design, camera, and 🙄

I'm really wary of ebay, too, that's why I was hoping I may find some site that would have it for a lower price brand new. I'm not sure that my husband would be thrilled about the idea of restarting a contract because, well, it's a contract, but it's definitely something to consider.

THANK YOU!

also if you renew your contract with customer care or at a coporate retail store you wont have to pay full retail price. full retail is 199.99. you would have whats called a partial discount so you could get the phone for 105.99

It just raised to 129.99 on partial today, which wasnt cool because they didnt let the us know before hand. Luckily the customer I quoted the 105.99 price to was cool and didnt mind paying a little more. If I were you Id call in to Customer Care and say you were quoted 105.99 a day ago and see if they can do anything for you. Cant promise anything, but its worth a shot.

It was raised to $129.99 when I called, but we ended up deciding that if I wanted it, I would just wait to save the money and pay retail if I really wanted it. We're not too keen on being under contract if we don't have to be, even though we like Tmo enough to stay.
