Unfortunately, the only downside to your inquiry is that existing customers must be a customer for more than 90 days, and can only be issued one unlock code every 90 days per active line of service at that...what if they need it themselves?
If someone is willing to do you that favor, then hey-that's great 🙂 (I'm really not trying to make that sound rude, so please don't take it that way)

Also, here's a neat web site that may be able to help you out:

bizkitsngravy..

I've read about this unlocking rule and there's one thing that I don't get. 'One unlock code every 90 days?' Why would I need to unlock my phone again in 90 days?? Wouldn't it still remain unlocked then?? Am I missing something here? And if we want our phones (e-105) unlocked, do we just walk into any t-mo in town and ask for the codes? We may be travelling soon and would want to use our phones overseas.

We have been with T-mo for the last 12 months and you guys are awesome. I have read your posts and you seem very helpful and dedicated. Big round of applause 🙂 We're on family plan $49.99 (2 lines) which means we are not qualifying for new phones (See? I have been reading your and others' posts) Too bad but o...

Sure no prob 🙂

Our 90 day rule is really to prevent people from making a side business off of us.(in laymens terms) Buy a phone discounted, unlock it, sell it for profit etc....

However, once your phone is unlocked, it is indeed unlocked permanently. People do acquire other phones though, and upgrade etc...and it's entirely possible they may need them unlocked, too. It's a free service we provide, the only rule is one unlock code per 90 days, per active line of service at the customers request. (The one exception to this is in california-state law allows any consumer buying a phone without a service plan for full cost the right to obtain the unlock code at the point of sale).

I'd suggest if you're going to be investing in a nicer ...

Will it mess anything up if the phone is unlocked?

bizkitsngravy,

Thanks a bunch. We'll get our two E-105s unlocked tomorrow.

Since you seem knowledgeable and helpful, I may as well ask you this... Sorry if it seems inappropriate to post this under T-mo forum but when I read other posts, I just wasn't sure how much to believe. Plus I am staying with T-mo anyway 😁

I have read your posts with Moto v300 that you owned and ideas about Motorola in general. I have heard from elsewhere as well that Motorolas are really bad with signal strength and phones are flimsy. Are they really that bad? I never had a Moto before but really like the look and features of the v878 and v551 (I plan to stay with t-mo so I would have to buy it unlocked). Do you have any idea about these two mode...

Please allow me to chime in here... I believe that Motorola currently gets a bad rap, which is partially their own fault for making a run of really bad phones two or three years ago. After some initial glitches with the first batch, in my experience the Motorola V300 has been very popular and had very few problems lately. Similarly, the V600 (T-Mobile's version) performs miraculously well, and I've never had one come back yet. The V551 for Cingular looks much like the V300, yet has most of the V600 features, and I think it is a wonderful phone also.
Regarding the V878, an associate of mine who has connections to Motorola in California gets all the unbranded Motorola handsets to use when they are first released. He has one, and recentl...

Honestly I've not heard of the V878 so that was a quick review lol...I have no direct experience with the V551, however from those that have, I have heard it pretty solid. I still have my reluctancies though, towards motorolas honestly, I have both personally, and professionally had too many bad experiences with them. Just a quick, and very brief history of motorola, and more so on the GSM side, is that they for a long time had a very shoddy reputation. Bad software, firmware, and physically they were just cheap. They gave themselves a very bad name and the companys who sold their product, thus leaving a very bitter taste in a lot of people's mouths. For a year or so, there were not very many mot. models released. Within the last year howeve...

I work for another company and we don't have unlock codes. We refer them to manufacturers. I do have an acct w/tmobile, which I will keep after I get my free company phone. I like the customer service that I get from them. Just thought you would like to know. I did see tmobile's answer to the motorola "razer". Pretty sweet. Also, in my experience with customer service and equipment problems, th LG phones seem to have more problems. 🙂
