OK TMOBILE CAN WE PLEASE GET BETTER PHONES
and looking at the upcoming releases its all the same of what they currently have.
their most recent release the sidekick was doa. no wifi, no 3g support ... terrible interface and so outdated it makes the treo look modern. my ten year old nephew isn't even impressed with changing the shell .. how silly of a feature is that?
to keep their fourth place usa market share, behind att, verizon and sprint they really need to step up to the plate with some fresh phones, pdas and the like.
-gps, accuweather, 2mp camera, 3g
Nokia 5610
-3.2mp camera, new interface, 2g memory
both very high end, not quite PDA phones that also look more grown up.
check em out.
tons and tons of new phones coming in september as well as 8 more areas launching 3g
SE TM506:
HSDPA support
2mpx cam
GPS built-in
2.2" screen
(mostly same as Z780 except bands and no radio)
nokia 5610
quad-2G (it's China hardware, no 3G at all)
3mpx AF cam with light
cue slider
available now for $230 MSRP
wait for couple more weeks, AWS variation of W760 may pass FCC

But no qwerty or sure type style keypads âšī¸ So for texting they're pretty terrible phones.
I think TMO needs a ENV type phone or something upgraded in their PDA selection. They really don't even have a good multimedia phone such as the Instinct. In fact, they don't really have a flagship phone at all.

I agree with the EnV style phone. I see requests for a phone with a full keyboard all the time. People that want to use a phone for text messaging don't necessarily need a smartphone, and the Sidekick is kind of in a class of its own with the $20 Sidekick package. T-Mobile would do well to pick up a regular phone (3G) with a keyboard on it. We'll see what comes later this year.
I don't mind buying the unlocked phones, but with T-Mobile going 3G in the AWS band, there's going to be limited handset choices. I like T-Mobile's service, but this might be the thing that finally pushes me out....
