Does anyone know when the new voicemail will be functional? I understand that we will not longer be receiving text meesages but receive a message icon which we can 'one-click' into voicemail. Also, we will have to record a new greeting.

It's being rolled out in different markets at different times. I believe the first market to have the new Comverse voicemail platform happened in December 2004 in Hawa'ii and that other markets are being installed this year. I've heard from other sources that California in different places is currently in process of the conversion. It will happen in all the markets eventually except for the SE former Powertel market since that's already a Comverse market ...

Will we still be able to have 2 greetings and the greeting schedule? Also, will we still be able to receive faxes? These are 2 cool functions that I hope don't go away.

Yeah, press 3 and 8 tells you the greeting schedule, 9 activates/deactivates it. If you choose 'modify greeting' and select 9 (not an option they tell you) you can change when it is played.

Oh, ok! Thanks!

Note to all: If you want to know when T-Mobile is going to start working on the voicemail system in your area you should get a text message or a voicemail saying that they are about to start working on your area. A T-Mobile rep said that when I asked her if she knew when the might start working in the NYC area. She also said that if you get a voicemail during that period while they are working on the system, that for the following 30 days after the finished the work, you should be able to hear your voicemail message on the old system by press "00" once you are in the voicemail.

My new voicemail is now active (California). Yes you do have to re-record your greeting. The question I have is what happens if you travel to one of those areas where it is not rolled out yet....?

If you're talking about the voicemail system the times are not for the fiscal year. They're for the *real* year. Why would you think it was fiscal? Fiscal usually relates to a business or financial year.

Because many things for a business are given in fiscal year terms and referring to Q4 could be fiscal Q4

They seem to be running a little behind. The new voice mail system just went live this week here in Philly.

Ahh - it's so great to have a real voicemail indicator now. It's good to see T-Mobile finally crawling out of the voicemail stone age. 😉

What is the reason for the new system? The old one seemed to work fine.
