Help w/G 1 user name/pw lock

My son has ph and locked up indicating user name /pw invalid , any help w/ retrieving as when he request email for pw not sure it is set up under gmail, etc.. Any help would be appreciated!

If you lock it then it requires you to enter the gmail and password you entered when you first set up the phone.
