What the heck is worng with it? I had no problems connecting in the US to a wifi network but oversees is the proble. I tried to connect in the frankfurt airport (where there is a hotspot) and it wouldn't connect. It ried connecting in my final destination (just a regular lynksis router and it won't. I both cases it finds the signal, no security code required on either, but no connect. Anyone have similar problems? I have the samsung T339.

If I were to assume your from the US and that's where you bought the phone and have a line of service with TMO.
I'm pretty sure UMA doesn't work out side the US. And I can surmise that if you had bought a UMA phone from TMO UK it wouldn't work in the US via Wi-Fi but the both should roam via TMO's cellular towers and roaming agreements. But you'll have to have 'World Connect' or something like that on your account.

Although I'm not a expert on UMA I do believe it won't work outside the country of origin the line was purchased in.

Of course you could just call TMO and ask. 🙂

Yes, I'm a TMO customer from the US. Cali baby! 😎 When I returned home I decided to get a UMA because it is suppose to work, according to TMO and some others here that have stated they have used it intl. I called TMO from here but I was using the phone I was calling regards to. So I tried a few offered suggestons that didn't work now I gotta call back and wait..

Oh, even on the TMO website it says it should work...

Well as I said I'm no expert. But you'd probable have better luck just going into a TMO store and asking what the f____! 🤨

Maybe there's some setting to tell the phone to only use Wi-Fi you need to turn on.

Could you keep this forum updated? Yours is a good question and I have heard that you can use UMA phones to call the US. I bought the BB Curve but have not been back to Europe since I bought it.

Normally you still have to have the "International Calling" activated on your account, does not cost anything, but charged if you are indeed roaming.

In some cases if your phone worked over wifi you still are charged roaming... only SOME cases.

T339 is a Tri-Band U.S. phone, although it shouldn't matter if it is Quad-Band while using WiFi, it may.

Only sucess stories with customers using UMA overseas is with Quad-Band models. All BlackBerry and Samsung Katalyst.
