UMA
So what exactly do you have to do for UMA to work?
The company I work for gives TMO phones out to some for business. And I've been shown that they pick up a Wi-Fi network (SGH-339). Although when I pick up the same network with my laptop I'm unable to connect.
So I've heard for this to work you have to pay for hotspot@home. But on the other hand some make it sound as if any Wi-Fi network will work?
So what's going on in the back ground?
Does the software on the phone verify you have hotspot@home on you account, do you need a password to the network, do you need a TMO router, or could I buy my own TMO phone and use my workplace's Wi-Fi for free?

This is a great questions. For UMA to work it's really based on setting. Of course you need to have all the required stuff. (UMA phone wireless router etc) UMA is meant to increase quality and give you the option to have unlimited calling while you are using UMA. You do not need to pay for hotspot@home to get the quality part just the unlimited mins. It runs 9.99 and you can put it acrossed the whole account. Now Business account are a little different see the first home page of phone scope for some info on business accounts. Is the router a unlocked router? T mobile has a great tech care that would easily set it up if something is out of wack. Hope this was helpful.

Yes, very good questions, and good answers! It should work on any WiFi network, but if it is secure you need the security key. If you press and hold the "C" (clear) key on the t339 it will automatically search for available wifi networks.

I think tmobile needs to do a little more advertising with the hotspots at home.. I can't believe how nice it is and its really not that used. With the new 8900 coming i'm hoping more people get involved with it. Did you know VZW does 8x more advertising than we do? Crazy..
