Data plans?
Can you get a TMO smartphone or Blackberry without a data plan?
Their website appears to let you.

The only phone that really REQUIRES you to get a data plan is the G1.
The sidekick is a close second because of the personalized network it has. Without the data plan, the sidekick cannot picture message, video message, instand message, the myfaves won't load properly, and if the phone is turned off and the contacts are not saved to the sim card they're all going to be deleted.
Aside from that, smart phones and blackberries do not require a data plan, but it's always strongly recommended because a data phone without a data plan is pointless in my opinion.

What about their 50MB + 200 messages? Can you get that with one of their smartphones or Blackberries?
...
No. The data plan must be designed for the phone. A sidekick dataplan will not work on a blackberry, or a blackberry on a behold. Each one is designed for a device. The only exception is the behold and memoir for some reason, but keep this in mind. A regular phone uses 4KB to load a web page, so 50MB can go a long way. A smartphone takes a LOT more than that, so your chances of going over even the 100MB are very good.

The T-Mobile Shadows actually used the lower tier data plans ($10 for 50MB and 200 messaging or $20 for 100MB and unlimited messaging). It runs Windows Mobile 6.1 and is there newest windows os phone.
