Dropping the ball

How many of you think that T Mobile has really dropped the ball and let VZ show them up with Android handsets? While they were the first to offer the platform, VZ's releases have been much better planned and the devices have been much better. The mid-level Eris is better than any T Mobile Android phone and that says a lot. While the new plans are great, I just feel that they will never offer any devices to compliment those plans. VZ and ATT just has so much more to offer in this department. Its almost like they have conceded to the big guys and now want to stay on par with MetroPCS or Cricket. Thats my take. What do you guys think?

I think you are wrong. The VZW phones sre sub par. The MotoCliq and Mytouch are better than the VZW phones and it only took VZW a year later to put them out. ATT only has the iphone. As soon as it go to other carriers ATT with be without. This is a good move for Tmobile. Customers want cheap plans, fast internet, nice phones and no contracts. Tmobile is meeting these needs.

Actually, the reviews for both of VZ's phones are pretty favorable. Droid has been dubbed the best Android phone and the Sense UI equipped Eris is much better than the Mytouch. The plans are good but even Sprint has good plans and they have not had a net add in over a year and T Mobile just went into the red in that category and also reported higher churn. I also think the 4th quarter will be another dismal one for T Mobile. What else do you think they can do to bring customers in b/c growth has slowed to a crawl?

You make some good points but i disagree about the Eris being superior to the mytouch. It is not a true google experience phone. Which means same as the cliq or behold 2 or Droid the manufacture has to make there version of android work with the latest update from google. The mytouch has alot of upside most people dont consider in the fact that it is an unaltered android phone. Which is why it and the g1 can now do google nav and others cant other than droid.

So far I would say the rate plans are working seeing favorable response from new customers and numbers are great. I think q4 is going to be good but not great. The plans still need some minor tweaking like bringing myfaves back.

I agree, but the droid is a google experience phone like the g1 and mytouch. ;)

I do not think they are bringing back MyFavs. A Google number and $39.99 MyFav plan=Unlimited for $39.99. If they bring it back in the future there will probably be a minimum price point of $59.99 so that it will not undercut their unlimited option.

And who would want that-- what would be the point? If you can get unlimited for $39.99 than a "limited" plan with MyFaves for $59.99 would just be silly.

??? One could only get "Unlimited" with T-Mobile via My Favs WITH a Google number as one of its 5 Fav numbers. So the point is that as long as T-Mobile is offering Unlimited plans fos $49.99 and $59.99 then they should not offer a My Fav for less.
