So here's a question - I have a RIM Blackberry 7100t that I want to use in India for e-mail purposes. If I send an e-mail from India back to the US using my Blackberry, what sort of charges might I incur?

Do you have an international roaming package for t-moblie? Internet uses minutes so what ever the per minute rate for how long you are on the internet.

Good answer. I'm a sales rep, and already knew the answer, but just thought I would pick your brain (my sister actually did end up doing that too, and the charge was for the amount of time that the radio was powered on and connected to the network at the $2.99/min international roaming rate). I'll try to think of something harder to ask you next time. 😁

Actually, the internet only uses min if, for some reason, the customer does not have GPRS provisioned at all and the handset is set to default to CSD connection. FEW phones default to CSD connection anymore, so if they do not have GPRS, the handset will not connect to the web. The charges for int'l GPRS roaming are $15/MB in any country with the exception of Canada.

I know the answer is yes, and the country specified was India where we do have int'l GPRS roaming...but you gave a completely different answer. 😛

Nuthin, your answer is wrong. T-Mobile does not and never has charged a per minute usage for internet, whether domestic or international.

As a BlackBerry user, if the account is a Corporate account, customers can add an additional feature that allows unlimited international roaming for email for 20.00 per month.

If not a Corporate account all T-Mobile users get the internet at 15.00 per Megabyte regardless of the data device they are using. This is a flat rate for all international GPRS usage, except Canada which is 10.00 per Megabyte. This requires the International Roaming SOC on the account. No usage of minutes is incurred while using data services.

As for the 2.99 charge, that is the price of voice calls in India. Your sister m...

If you are a Corporate T-Mobile Employee you can check Streamline to see that T-Mobile offers no International Internet Roaming packages. The only SOC that can be added is for International Roaming Permissions meaning a customer IS allowed to roam. International Internet Usage is .15/kb as listed in Streamline. There is no minutes usage. All countries are .15/kb. Voice roaming charges differ by country.

If you aren't a corporate T-Mobile Employee you can visit this link http://www.t-mobile.com/international/coverag eInternet.asp which is from the T-MobileUSA website. It explains everything just as I have. Check it out.

Like I said - that's very interesting. Also, that means that I was misinformed by our regional rep ($2.99 for an e-mail did seem a little steep). I that link and the charges in India would be 1.5 cents per kb.

I have a nifty little idea for you! Why don't you reread the posts in this thread (BIG HINT, the ones you might concentrate on are the ones that are headed "your answer was incorrect.") and after that you might attempt to process the information contained therein, which spells out fairly plainly and in a completely iterative manner the ways in which your information was lacking. After that, if you are still unclear as to how you are incorrect I'd suggest you might want to take an extended period of time off to ponder it all and attempt to come to terms with your own cluelessness. Good luck with that! 🙄

All the answers you gave pointed specifically to if you have a international roaming package. If you do not because T-mobile uses minutes to access the internet, it charges you for the minutes not the internet usage itself if you have the t-zones package. Any other GPRS nonsense? Or are you going to contradict how T-mobile accesses the internet? 🤣

Oh, for goodness's sakes. It's not SUPPOSED to use min. If it does, then the system is not working properly. Most of the phones made in the last year or so don't even GIVE the option to use min anymore. You just can't access the web at all if you have the problem that in the past caused the internet to use min.

I agree with you there, but I was referring to a specific instance in which it did use minutes. If the phone being used does not use minutes to access the internet then Great I guess there are no extra charges besides those outlined by you earlier.
