my f****** phone across the room!! 👿
I have the Samsung Slider phone since July '04.
Almost a year now and all of a sudden I get a voicemail . . . I hear it and delete it! I go call back the person that left me the Voicemail and my phone's screen starts blacking out . . . It freezes and I turn it off then back on. When it turns on the screen looks like a TV when it has no reception and the screen is "raining" . . . my phone's screen show the same thing only with color and with 2 white lines across it! WTF 😈 It's been happening on and off. I called T-Mobile and the lady said that she has the same phone and never heard of it before. Then that nut job want me to wait 10 days and get a "REFURB"?!?!? Does she have a screw loose? ...

I don't think its necessarily the ladies fault, but perhaps T-Mobile's policy, which I doubt she makes up.

Perhaps you should try contacting Samsung.

I know it's not her fault. Yes, it's T-Mobile's policy. I think so werid that after almost a year the phone starts messing up on me. I really don't want to buy a new phone yet or get a refurbished one . . .

If I paid that much for a phone, which I have, more actually, and then not almost after a year it started getting funky like yours I sure as hell wouldnt want to be buying a new phone, nor would I accept a refurbished one if I was sold something that isnt functioning properly due to poor craftsmanship or whatever.

If T-Mobile isn't willing to help, like I said, contact the source of the phone, Samsung.

Call Samsung - 1-800-726-7864 ; I called them bc my E715 screen started fading, as long as it's still under the one year warranty they'll fix it for free, and send you back the same phone.

You think I am werid? Look who's talking! 🤣 How about you LEARN how to read. My phone isn't over a year old. Can you count? 😕 I wrote "July '04" About 10 months now. Not "OVER" a year! 🙄 And yes. . . I find it werid that a Samsung phone that ONLY has 10 months and is in good condition mean I haven't dropped it,put it in water, etc. . . is breaking on me. You're the werid one thinking that a phone shouldn't last for about a year.
So how about YOU get a life and learn how to read!

Actually, refurbs are completely rebuilt phones, and they are usually just as reliable (if not more) than a brand new one. If you go directly to Samsung they are simply going to fix your old one and send it back to you, so in effect you will be getting a refurb that way also. Our warranty exchange program is designed to get a phone back into your hands as quickly as possible. On top of all that, you will be eligible for another full upgrade discount in June anyway. Any way you cut it, nobody is going to send you a brand new phone.

I guess I learned now and hopefully try to prevent it in the furture. Do you know any information about the protection program from T-Mobile?

You can only get the protection program within 7 days of upgrading through T-Mobile, or activation. If you process a claim within 7 days of adding the program, it's a $70 deductable, after it's 35.

Asurion uses refurbs as well, and doesn't even guarrantee that you will receive the same model. (Look at their equipment protection pamphlet - paragraph F.2.b). For this reason and the deductible I NEVER recommend that customers get equipment unless they are purchasing a higher end phone.

Also, refurbished electronics are often better in quality than new units, since they have been rebuilt and tested to insure that they are working properly. Most customers who receive refurbs don't even realize it.

Ok. So every time you get a new phone you have to "reactivate" the program again? Also after the 7 days if your phone messes up you will have to pay $35?

No, you can only add it to your acct after an upgrade or activation. After that, it's on the account until you remove it. The $35 deductible is after having Equip Protection for 60 days. If it's within 60 days of adding the program, it's a $70 deductible.

You've had your phone for almost a year and you want a brand new handset in return? YOUR handset itself is considered "used" at this time, regardless of how carefully you treated it. Providing refurbished units for exchange is actually common practice among most electronics. You do have the option through T-Mobile, however, to send your phone in to get it repaired, but it takes a longer time, of course, than the replacement option. You CAN, in the meantime, get a loaner phone from a T-Mobile authorized store if you go that route. It's free, but you do need a credit card just in case you don't bring the loaner back.

A refurb is not as bad as you think. If I were to put the refurb in front of you, next to a brand new handset. You would not be able to tell the difference between the two. This is the way most, if not all, of the companies handle warranty repairs. If you send it direct to the manufacturer and it is under warranty, they will either fix it and send it back or replace it with a refurb.
