Tzones internet speed

Hi

I recently activated Tzones on my Moto A630 to try out the email and browser capabilities but I feel like it is very slow. It takes 5-10 seconds to load "wap.yahoo.com" a very basic site. Why is Tmobile's data speeds so slow? i thought it was supposed to be GPRS and pretty fast. Also, how does it compare to the other US carriers' internet speeds. Thanks, Rami

I know that when I hooked up my A630 to my lapto and used Motorola phone tools to connect to the REAL internet it was at about 38K. When I used the Soy Ericsson air card I got it to about 44K. You won't get any faster really unless the carrier has an EDGE network which tmobile doesn't yet. But then they charge 80 bucks a month for unl service which is a rip!

Hope this helps..

The real question is when you tried to connect were you at a tmobile tower or not ... if you were raoming then you only get the 9k :-(

Also if you are in a roaming area I didn't think that the T-Mobile GPRS would even work.
On the PCC coverage map I was in the shade under "good" coverage.

Exactly WHO charges $80 for unlimited service of EDGE? Cingular surely does not.

Yeah, right now it's $25.99 unless you signed up for it before the rate plan changes like me, I have it for $19.99 a month.

Im not sure where that dude got $80 from. I think he's thinking of the data connect plan, which you dont need that to utilize EDGE on your laptop through your phone.

Yes I was speaking of this "Access your e-mail, corporate intranet, and the Internet while on the go by wirelessly connecting your laptop to the Internet using a PC card as your modem. Requires usage with a Cingular Wireless PC card." 79.99 / month

I was comparing using the T-Mobile Unlmited plan wth a PC Card Vs Cingular. I was nt speaking of teathering a phone.

This sounds pretty standard.

GPRS service has a max of about 5 KB/s on a sustained transfer, but it takes a long time to initiate connections, so even small pages take a long time to load.

At least that has been my experience having used Tmobile w/ a Sierra Wireless Aircard 750 for about 6 months. Thank god I have cable internet again.
