Just won...

A v600 from T-Mobile, or at least I think I did. The caller ID said "Call 1", and I'm pretty sure every other time Tmo has called me it has said that. They had me verify some account info and told me that I was one of 62 people who won a Motorola v600, which is actually kind of cool because I dropped my Samsung r225 and it stopped ringing a couple weeks ago (works fine otherwise, I just have to leave vibrate on), and I was waiting on the v635.

So do any Tmo reps know if this is legit? It seemed so, until I remembered that the v600 has been discontinued. So, is this just their way of getting rid of overstock? Just wanted to check and see if anyone else had heard of it.

Thanks!

I think you should call Customer care, and ask them, so they can check your account. Cause if the person you talked to, had your account open, then it should have been logged in to your account notes. I think you should call them, to make sure you didn't fall victim to a scam and Identity theft.

Yeah, I called, and they had no record of it. I don't really know what that means, because I didn't really give out any personal info except my name and the last 4 digits of my social.

Well, even if someone does try to scam me, that's their loss - I don't have any money anyway! 🤣

still, they have your number, and your last 4 of your social. You should call T-Mobile again, and have them watch your account. Plus look at your bills. And if the phone does come, check the senders address.

Also, when you call in, please have the rep put a security password on your account that only you know--with your name, phone number and the last four of the SSN somebody COULD order about fifty new PDAs and bill them to your account.

Whenever we do promotions, the customer is notified by letter, voice mail or SMS and given an 800# for a fulfillment company that will process the request. We don't generally call up customers offering stuff, and we won't ask for personal information. If you're ever in doubt, ask for a callback number so YOU can contact THEM.

another thing.... this could be dealer fraud. Call tmobile and make sure that your account has not been upgraded. Did they ask you to extend your contract to get the free phone?

If I have the last 4 numbers of your social and your tmo number I can upgrade your account no matter what the notes say or how many passwords you put on it and I am an indirect dealer. I just have to log into ICAM type in your info and hit upgrade.

The dealer makes a commission of about 130 bucks a pop on an upgade and he didn't even have to give you a phone...

This is just an assumption, but t could be what's going on.

Thanks to both of you for your insight. I mentioned the possibility of dealer fraud to the CSR I was corresponding with, but they have not yet responded. They did say that they have placed a watch on my account, and since I was not planning to upgrade until I can get the v635, they will know if someone tries to tamper with my account.

Thanks again for your help and advice - I appreciate it!

Just for your info... I don't know if we will even have the V635 at all. I haven't heard anybody even talking about it yet. However, the V330 is now scheduled to finally be released in the next week or two. It has VGA camera, bluetooth, speakerphone, and video recording/messaging. It should be around $199, no rebate at first.

My friend wanted the V600, but since its discontinued, would she get that V330 for that price if she extended her contract, if thats the correct price?

As long as she is eligible for the full upgrade discount, that's the price she would pay.
