free upgrades?
does anybody know how you can receive an upgrade free phone if you're an existing customer?
I have a friend who got it from a sales rep in a store, but when I call t-mo customer service they tell me that i need to pay $50 for the upgrade.
By the way, I'm pretty frustrated with t-Mo's representatives, because every time I call they tell me different things. For example, one "knowledgeable" rep told me that the promo of 1000 anytime + unlimited nights and weekends for $46 would be permanent and if I wait 2 months I'd eligible for an upgrade. Well, I waited for 2 months and now neither the promo is there nor the free phone upgrade!
And I've been with them for almost 3 yrs! That's how they nurture their loyal customers!

There is a good chance the 45.99 plan will be back soon.....keep your eyes and ears open!
From what I understand, you guys can upgrade based on the amount of time a customer has been on a qualifying rate plan (I was told $39.99 for a single $69.99 for family plan - please correct me if I'm wrong). We can upgrade only when the customer is in the 11th month of their contract or later - but here's the clincher - REGARDLESS of the rate plan that they're on.
The end result is that sometimes indirects can...

That's really weird! I was told from the start the $46 for the 1000 mins w/nts & weekends wasn't permanent, and I'm and indirect dealer. I know what you mean about miscommunication though - it gets really confusing for the customers on upgrades because the Corp stores and CC have a different system for upgrading than we do.

That sounds like the unfortunately typical miscomunication between departments that carriers have. Yes you can get free upgrades, you just have to find the right place. I happen to know a few.
They can also get one from T-Mobile if it's a phone new custs can get for free, they've been on a 39.99 plan for at least 12 mo, and it's been at least 11 mo since their last discounted phone.
